Windy.... windy... and guess what windy. That is what makes it so great. Once you laugh at yourself you can enjoy all that this town can offer.

Wellington has been my favourite city in New Zealand by far. I thought of it like a mini Melbourne, with a cool, eclectic vibe that doesn't try to hard.

It has all the hallmarks of a great city - active and vibrant walkways

Funky, eclectic, and just plain cool. Wellington has a Bohemian vibe that jives with it's beachside ambience, making it seem like the offspring of San Francisco and San Diego. Definitely worthy of the Coolest Little Capital in the World title.

Nothing like your average capital city full of big government buildings. Wellington is beautiful and lively! Even from the little time I spent there I could tell Wellington is somewhere I would love to live! The only exception for me was that it was chilly there even in summer. But still I really loved the vibe! Wellington is definitely one of my favorite cities!

For a pastoral and nature infused country, Wellington is the urban heart of the nation. Hipster bars, amazing dining and enough art culture to push start the Lord of the Rings franchise.

Windy Wellington is where my in-laws live so will always be a place to go and visit family. It's a great place to find a spot in a coffee house and people watch. The museum Te Papa is fun for kids and adults alike.

Wellington has a lot of character for a small capital city. Their marketing plays on this a lot, but I find the slogan too irritating to repeat here. Go during the Arts Festival if you can, but it's worth a visit at any time of year.
