One of my favorite restaurants in DC. They have food options for vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters. A few of my favorites is the Shrimp and Grits, Shrimp and Chorizo pasta, Turkey burger, and Tri color quinoa. Highly recommend during you visit to DC.

It's been a while since I have dined there, but when I did, the food was excellent.

Where all my artsy peeps at?! This is the place to go in D.C. for open mic nights. You can hear poetry, singing, and other artist perform at this popular restaurant. Now there is a small $5 cover to enter the open mic night but I say it's worth it. They have 5 different locations so depending where you are at you can go to the one closer to you.

Busboys is the go to date night spot for my wife and I. LOVE the food. Super creative combinations and some safer options for the picky eaters. We usually go to the Brookland location but the 14th street location is much busier and has live entertainment sometimes.

Busboys and Poets is a bookstore/restaurant with rooms for poetry slams and other events. I was a little worried that it would be too touristy but the food lived up to the reviews and the hype.

The restaurant is great for vegans and meat eaters alike because they offer a ton of great options for both.

This chain of restaurants teeters on unique and mainstream. Get coffee for your studies or reading, likewise the dinning options are great.

One of my favorite spots to eat. The atmosphere is amazing and the food is really great. Last time I had shrimp and grits that were to die for. I definitely enjoy Busboys events and open mic nights. With a great bookstore and bar its an alll around a good place to just hang out

This was such a shnazzy spot to meet up with friends the combination of bookstore + restaurant + bar makes for a versatile and culture-rich evening. Met up with friends and enjoyed the most delicious crab grits. It was a little dry, but after adding the Cajun gravy the waiter pulled for me, omg flavor bomb! The sweet potato fries were a nice compliment and although busy and bustling, the book store provided some nice after-meal browsing entertainment.

Busboys and Poets is a great place to hang out for an afternoon, see a show, or grab a drink. Amazing vegan Cobb Salad!

Great date spot and the food selection (with lots of vegan and vegetarian options) is really great. Come for open mic night for real taste of DC's artist.

My favorite bookstore in the District. The entertaining titles are enough to keep you in there for hours on end.

I ordered the Mediterranean Burger, and it came out burnt. I like burnt meat, at a backyard BBQ, not from a business. Womp womp womp. When you serve a burger on flatbread, there's not much hiding the meat, so it better be cooked correctly!

I brought my out-of-towner friend here, and she had good things to say about the bookstore, vibe, etc, but she also raved about Tryst. I enjoy food at Tryst a lot more, so I'll stick to taking out-of-towners there.

I can't enjoy the good "vibes" of a place without good (or at the very least non-burnt) food in my mouth!

Such a great atmosphere! Had to present my poem from the Scholastic Writing Awards here, but didn't get a chance to try the food. Must investigate more.

I have to come back to this place every time I am in D.C. Such a fantastic atmosphere. Food, books, music, poetry. I wish every city had one of these. I would be in absolute bliss.

This place has grown quickly, in no small part because the food is fantastic, the art and events are inspiring, and the relaxed vibe is a perfect antidote to the chaos of the nation's capital. There is now usually a wait to be seated, but this is one of the best places in the city to have to wait around -- the small bookshop at the back is the perfect place to spend a half hour (or, perhaps, much longer). Check the website for open mics and special events.

I cannot say enough about this place.

I'm a sucker for coffee shops, and this cafe/bookstore/coffee shop encapsulates everything I love about sinking into a sofa with a latte and a good book. It actually serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as well, but my last trip here involved meeting up with an old friend and spending god knows how long drinking tea and people watching. A simple order of tea comes with your own jar of honey, your own pot, and a chunk of lemon along with your teabag - even a mug of chai feels like an event the waitstaff has orchestrated just for you! Can't wait to come back and try their food.

B&P is very ok. The food is an eclectic mix, meaning there's really no safe plate to get here. If you're looking for something that that you already know the taste of, you won't find it as this restaurant. But the nail in the coffin is that everyone is always here, at maximum capacity, so the service is just naturally awful.

With a party of 7 we had a chance to taste many different dishes. All were delicious. Great option for a group with veggies and carnivores. Wait staff was awesome! "Eddie" made us feel like a close friend. Ask her about her artwork!
