Great coffee and amazing cupcakes and various other sweets. Place gets really packed but be patient. It's worth the wait.

Georgetown is not to be overlooked when visiting the nation's capital. Baked & Wired has wonderful coffee and an extensive selection of sweets. Their "bakedwich" is the absolute best ice cream sandwich I have ever had.

Have dessert for breakfast, grab a coffee to-go, then enjoy a morning stroll along the canal.

They need to get another location outside of Georgetown! There never used to be lines, but now you're almost guaranteed a wait, especially on weekends. I absolutely love these cupcakes, and this is coming from a person who despises frosting at all other times. I'm more of a savory than sweet person, and do not normally like frosting...but the first time I tried the Dirty Chai cupcake here 5 years ago, I was hooked. I didn't leave a crumb behind. SO GOOD!

Singlehandedly the best cupcake location in Dc. It's great because there is seldom a line, and the cafè is also fantastic. The cupcakes are large and the selection varies. I like the red velvet one.

Their hand-crafted lattes are pretty great, but their baked goods are even better. Baked & Wired is a sweet tooth's paradise with a huge selection of homemade cookies, pies, and cupcakes. My most recent experience at this world famous coffeeshop/bakery included a latte paired with a Monster cookie - doesn't get much better than that!

A little overrated but they have some good coconut choc bars and salted pistachio choc bars worth trying

Coffee and cupcakes, what a wonderful combination! And they are amazing, hard to pick just one flavor so I suggest trying them all!

Best cupcakes you will ever have in your whole life! Baked and Wired has perfected the cake to frosting ratio. In fact, the cake itself is so moist that you don't even need frosting for it to taste good! The Elvis cupcake is a must-try!

OK, I'd come to Georgetown just to go to Baked & Wired. The cupcakes, pies, biscotti and other treats change often. There's never been anything I didn't like.
A decent selection of coffee and teas, too.

Brownies, cupcakes, coffee. Rivals Georgetown Cupcakes in quality and style. Neat little place to hang out. I wish I had all the time in the world to just chill and read books in a city like this.

New York City

As its name suggests, this Georgetown institution takes coffee as seriously as its homespun baked goods. Baristas train for months, and the concrete coffee bar serves only the best roasters in the country (Stumptown, Intelligentsia). Cupcakes are playfully displayed in upside-down coffee beakers, and decadent flavors include hazelnut ganache–topped vanilla cake with a dulce de leche center. Other coffee-pairing options range from breakfast breads to strawberry pistachio pie.

Must-Try Item: The Bee Sting, a shortbread bar with a honey and sliced almond topping, is the perfect balance of salty and sweet.

I really like their baked goods. I prefer the brownies and cookies to the cupcakes, but that is just me. Everything is displayed in a way that will make you want to buy it all. You can grab a cookie, cup of coffee and take a seat. It is a much more relaxing environment than some other bakeries in the area.

Avoid the lines at Georgetown cupcake and head toward the waterfront. Oh, wait...you'll often find shorter lines outside of Baked & Wired too. They sell some of the better coffee in DC, so waltz right past the lines to the right and grab yourself a cup. In addition, on that side of the store you'll find non-cupcake baked goods. I love the pumpkin ginger bread, myself.

Take your food and drink and head out to a relaxing spot along the C&O Canal for some of the best (and most relaxing) that Georgetown has to offer.
