Historic boutique hotel near Mt Vernon Square. They offer a traditional British High Tea starting at 3pm. For $30, you can get the royal treatment, which comes with plenty of tea, scones, sandwiches, and a kir royal.

Very beautiful hotel.. Rooms are small but comfortable. Only flaw was our room was booked months in advance and when I called and wanted to upgrade my room due to adding another person the lady said wait till you get here to see what's available. Stupid me listened and nothing was available. So now we have to take turns with one person sleeping on the floor for 3 nights. Manager gave us 3 free breakfast vouchers for the inconvenience. Ugh!
Other than that, it's also in a great location for tourist.
UPDATE: we have now upgraded the second day of stay and big difference, love the bigger room, also has a couch with hideaway bed. Only difference is the noise. The streets are so loud with traffic. We are on 5th floor. Recommend 6 and up for more quieter stay.

The Henley Park Hotel is a unique hotel, as it is located in a historic Tudor-style mansion that used to be a luxury apartment building that housed Senators and Congressmen. Despite being on Massachusetts Avenue and steps away from the Convention Center, the hotel is quiet and calm. The dimly lit bar on the ground floor is a perfect place to meet up with friends or colleagues for a low-key drink and interesting conversation.

This is an old money hotel. The second you walk in you want to walk a little straighter, put down your phone and enjoy the ambience. The rooms aren’t large, but they are luxurious in the old school way of traveling. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for families. It feels that at every turn you might break something. It doesn’t feel kid-friendly at all. I see older travels wanting to stay here. There isn’t a “scene,” but an escape.

I really felt as though I was going back in time here. Loved the gargoyles on the building exterior! The restaurant and bar have a clubby, pre-War feel to them. The chairs in the common spaces are comfortable, but slightly warn, like they would be in an old-fashioned living room.

Except for a few suites, the rooms here have one bed, typically a queen. It's more suited to business people going to the nearby Convention center or the business district, than it is to families. Feels like a grown up place.

The hotel has a fitness center, but no pool.

This may very well be the nicest and most interesting hotel I've ever been to. One quick caveat about that: this place has a great old historic feel that gives the whole experience a lot of charm. If old and historic isn't your thing, though, you might not be as impressed as I was.

The decor is great. Old marble floors, antique-like wood furniture in the rooms and around the hotel, fresh cut flowers in the lobby...there were just lot of really nice touches. They don't skimp on the amenities though. There's still a fitness center (admittedly small), a number of great lounges, a bar/restaurant that is attractive with a nice menu and free wi-fi.

It's also in the heart of downtown DC, within walking distance of Chinatown, a number of metro lines and the White House. The staff was also the friendliest and most helpful I've ever encountered. This place was a win.
