Exceptionally fashionable part of town: on the "Designer Row" of Venice, this nautical-themed hotel is original and classic. If you like shopping this is definitely the right street for you. All the rooms have a different spread, and as a guest you feel honored by the warm service. Breakfast was yummy, the Caravella Restaurant also is a good option for dinner. Plenty of other options for dinner and drinks, try Harry's Bar, a 3 min walk away!

It’s impossible to talk about this hotel without talking about the neighborhood. Basically, the other tenants in the area read like a who’s who in international fashion – or the set of an episode of Sex in the City: Prada, Miu Miu, Versace, Valentino, Hermes, Luis Vuitton, Fendi, Chanel… And yet while the former palace is indeed beautiful and grand, it doesn’t have the pretentious, snobby atmosphere you might expect from a hotel across the street from Bulgari. No, this hotel has nothing to prove. It’s just, quite simply, beautiful. There’s framed art and glass sculptures everywhere, as well as a charming installation along the hallways of the calendars the hotel commissions every year (each with a unique theme), framed and going back decades. The room was classic Venetian luxury, with a suprising and delightful black-and-white retro-feeling bathroom and tons of closet space. The rooftop terrace is truly stunning, with an almost 360-degree view of nearly all of Venice’s major monuments, and a phone for calling room service up while you’re sunbathing. The hotel’s restaurant, La Caravella, also is internationally renowned both for its ship-themed décor and its Michelin-rated cuisine (bonus: guests get a 10 percent discount at the restaurant). People often have weddings or other celebrations at Saturnia, and I can see why: it’s large, beautiful, chock-full of amenities and special spaces (like meeting rooms and garden terraces), and the staff is friendly and helpful. I can’t think of a bad thing to say about it.

I really love a lot of things about this hotel. Shall I count the ways? I think its interesting and great that it is in a hotel group that is managed entirely by women. I thought some of the Murano-glass chandeliers were some of the more unique that I saw in Venice, and actually reminded me of some Chihuly glass art. There is a beautiful (unplayable) 250 year old piano, nicely designed wooden doors on the rooms, and some really fantastic wood art (that was a sample of a collection on special display in a nearby museum). The restaurant has an amazing menu of deliciousness. There is a great garden patio bathed in sunlight, and a roof-top terrace with multi-directional views. What more could you ask for? Ah yes, how about a plush bed with a hand carved wooden bed frame with posts and a stylishly modern bathroom? Everything was splendid.

Loved this historic hotel in Venice, Italy. Each room is decorated differently. The breakfast buffet was bountiful, complete with fabulous coffee (avoid the eggs, though). The front-desk staff was amazingly friendly. Location was perfect.
