Three words: Extraordinary! Elegant and chic! Half way between San Marco and the train station, easy to reach and easy to find. Rooms with view of Canal Grande and a magical frame of Venice. Historical building well maintained. Warm welcoming at the entrance, staff ready to help and make your stay memorable. Definitely a top class hotel. Magic atmosphere increased by frescos, ceiling coffer and marble steps from the 16° century. Rooms look like cozy boutique where nothing is missing, comfy bed and shower stall, bathrobe, slippers, complimentary toiletries, free wi-fi....I know it's a long list! You can have the breakfast in the Sala della Musica, a suggestive room with antique furniture and nice frescos. Breakfast plenty of tasty choices! Inside there is also the Alcova restaurant where you can taste nice dishes especially the seafood entree.

Local from Venice

A luxurious palace off Strada Nuova, with a gargantuan fresco on the way to the piano nobile, or second floor. Rooms are also enormous. Fit for a special occasion or if you just have money to burn. Relax on the piano nobile or on the back restaurant terrace and admire the boats going by on the Grand Canal.

From the moment you enter, this places feels like the set of a movie about Marie Antoinette or Louis XIV: larger than life. The reception area is massive, with ridiculously high ceilings and two sets of giant staircases ascending towards a landing painted with frescoe murals, which then opens up onto another massive communal space that feels like a ballroom but is really just kind of a hallway. The hotel was recently named a historical monument, so it does have a certain museum quality that some people might not like (including being open to the public, though when I visited, there didn’t seem to be any non-guests milling about), but it also means gorgeous Oriental rugs, original tapestries, antique furniture, and opulent paintings. And then there are the rooms… gorgeous, spacious, full of cinematic elegance and modern amenities. I managed to peek at the Library Room, a suite with dark wood bookcases and a wraparound internal balcony, and the Sagredo Suite, with a subtly sexy cream and white color scheme. But even the basic double room was awe-inspiring, with its gold-accented furniture and striped upholstery and dramatic drapes. A stay here is really an experience to remember. (Note: The restaurant has a couple cool perks. Ask about candlelight dinners and chef tours of the local market.)

This place has earned every one of its five stars. It is not only a magnificent luxury hotel, run by committed professionals, but it is also recognized as a national monument. This does mean that, as a rule, the general public is allowed to wander some of the areas of the hotel, but it is certainly does not seem to be a known tourist spot. I only saw one or two people even wander around to look at the many massive frescoes. The library is one of the other real treasures here, which is filled with hundred of ancient books. Of course, you can avoid all trains and typical taxis, and simply take water taxis directly from the airport, arriving to the private dock, and entering into the palatial lobby. Aside from that, the views are beautiful, the furniture ornate, the service impeccable, and the food inspiring. There is no way that you could possibly regret staying here.
