person that worked there that he hasn't had food anywhere else that had reminded him of his mother's home southern cooking--a huge compliment for a west coast bbq establishment! Besides the amazing family style meal that I've had here, their banana cream pudding is dessert to dream about, even weeks later. It's such a great restaurant to bring a big group of friends to share, so you get a little taste of everything.

Oh my gerd. Here's what you need to know. -1 I'm a Georgia boy originally. -2 I actually have a pretty damn good palate, a incidentally a great sense of smell. Knowing this, I can give this the Southern seal of approval. One of only two BBQ spots in LA I actually really feel would thrive in the South. It's not enough to have fantastic meat (which they do, everything I've had there is on point in this department), but you also need sides. And the mac 'n cheese is some of the best I ever had. The cornbread is good enough to slap yo momma over. The sauces are familiar but also some have a flavor unique to this place.

Negatives? It's frickin expensive man. I get that you're the only (good) game in town, but damn. Also, no fryer. The other Baby Blues location has one, so I know how good the fries and hush puppies can be, and they are sorely missed. Also, the baked beans and slaw aren't quite my jam. And I love me some good slaw. Still...the pros definitely outweigh the cons, by a lot.

Can't get enough of this menu. Extremely authentic bbq and you get a ton of food for a great price especially in LA on the west side. Go crazy on the bbq sauce.

I am in LOOOOOOVE with Baby Blues BBQ! By far the BEST BBQ restaurant I have been to, and ALMOST as good as my mama's perfect homemade ribs!

My boyfriend and I had actually never even heard of this place, but we first discovered it and its delicious BBQ aroma while going to California Chicken Cafe next door. I noticed that there was always a line of people in front of this place, so I decided to look it up on Yelp...and whaddoyaknow, the place has over 1500 reviews on Yelp! We FINALLY got around to going here this afternoon for an early lunch, and I am COMPLETELY in love with this place!

Baby Blues opens at 11:30am, so my bf and I got there right on time and there was a small crowd of people waiting in front of the door. A girl opened the doors a few minutes after 11:30am, but luckily they had a ton of seating so all of us were able to get tables really quickly.

The interior of this place just screams Mom and Pop/hole in the wall...which is perfectly fitting for a tiny southern BBQ place like this. Funky artwork and memorabilia on the wall, disheveled tables and chairs, etc.

I ended up getting the Baby Back Ribs platter, which came with two sides and a generous slice of cornbread. I opted for the macaroni and cheese and sweet potatoes as my sides. I LOVED THE RIBS. I normally don't have a HUGE appetite during lunch time (dinner is usually my YOLO meal of the day), but for some reason I was able to eat six baby back ribs! The sauce was absolutely delicious, perfect proportion and not overly smothered, the meat was finger lickin' good AND fell off the bone perfectly. By far the best restaurant ribs I've ever had, and the closest thing I can get to my mother's home cooked ribs. I also really enjoyed the mac and cheese, and would definitely order it again. I LOVED the cornbread. I read on Yelp that some people said it was a little crunchy on the outside, but that wasn't the case for me. It was super thick, soft and oh-so delicious. I have come to the realization the cornbread may be one of my favorite foods of all time, and Baby Blues does it right! The mashed sweet potatoes were good, but overall my least favorite part of my dish. I will probably try something different next time/wouldn't order them again.

My better half got the tri tip sandwich with a side of macaroni salad. He said that the sandwich was really delicious, and was the perfect size for lunch! I don't know what he thought of the macaroni salad though, but he ate it all so he must have enjoyed it.

We recently tried out the oh-so famous Phil's BBQ in San Diego, and Baby Blues is BY FAR 1 MILLION TIMES better than Phil's. We did NOT like Phil's at all and most likely wouldn't go back. I would go back to Baby Blues a ton of times, though. And the fact that they have pick-up/delivery frightens me a little because that could potentially be dangerous to my wallet...and my health :P

My baby back ribs platter was $19.95 and my bf's tri tip was $9.95, so we paid around $36 before tip.

I HIGHLY recommend Baby Blues and I am so happy that I finally found a legit southern BBQ restaurant in LA! Definitely hope to come back many more times in the future!

Vegetarian? HA! This is Meat Central. Delicious, smoked, basted, fall-off-the-bone rib meat. Sure, you could go "vegetarian" and get a combination of their sides, but if it's for moral purposes you swing in that particular culinary direction, I'd steer clear (do you see what I did there?).

It's not the BEST BBQ I've ever had. The cornbread, too, could be warm, and there could be butter on the table with some honey or something. The blues corn on the cob is fantastic - watch how people eat their corn. It's so weird! I like to eat every last kernel, and my boyfriend likes to eat random patches.

Either way, it's a solid four stars of meaty goodness. Maybe next time I won't be so full that I can order their key lime pie?

Maybe not. Holding back is hard.

I've been here two times, and I just don't like the food here. Sandwich was fatty and no flavor, beef brisket didn't have much flavor either, and why we had to wait outside for 10 minutes when there were SO MANY open tables??

BBQ options in la are somewhat limited... This place is good but not life changing. The triple x wings shouldn't be missed - grilled not fried. Banana pudding is a delight if you have a sweet tooth.

Fantastic barbecue and spectacular sides. The hurricane shrimp is worth the visit alone. The place is a hole in the wall and usually there's a long wait, so plan on getting their early and get hungry in line.

Really damn good BBQ. Go crazy with the sauce, but expect poor service if you have a large group (this made zero sense to me, too).

I am finally trying out Baby Blues as I had bookmarked it forever as I pass by it numerous times as I go to California Chicken Café.

Well,.. I am VERY disappointed.:-(
2 stars for quality, taste, and price!
We ordered the 1/2 slack BBQ baby back ribs to share. It tastes like they use low quality meat and the ribs has been marinated a bit too long. A very weird after tastes to it, like it's cooked in unclean or stale oil. I don't know how to explain it very well. It just leaves a bad aftertaste in your mouth. :-(
I didn't like the taste they marinate the ribs. It was way too vinegary. Too Vinegary perhaps like to hide the taste of the meat. Perhaps it was just a bad batch that we got.

For the side orders, we got the cornbread, hard and tastes like leftover cake for a week. Mash potato and mac and cheese was not good at all.

Food is on the rough side.. More of a market pre made quality not restaurant quality level. It's pricey, half rack with 2 small sides is $19.50. At Lucille's or El Torito Grill (Yes! El Torito has the best BBQ ribs, hands down!!) a full rack of ribs with huge sides is only $20!

I also saw this on Food Network and tried it.
The service is friendly but slow.
The sandwiches are piled with the cole slaw inside.
I tried the Carolina styled Pulled Pork.
I had to drench it with their BBQ for the full flavor of the pork to shine.
I tried the beer braised beef brisket sandwich on my second trip.
It was juicy and did not require any bbq sauce.

The lunch special are in my opinion not worth the extra couple of bucks for an ice cream scoop sized fixin.
I did not have to wait long for an open table.
There was also space on the counter for an individual diner.

Next trip going to try the blackened catfish po'boy.

People at work have been raving about this place for months, so I went to check it out, came out very disappointed, the place is not clean, the variety is limited and the ribs are just not very good.
