When I walked into the lobby, I wasn't blown away by the decor (in serious need of an update) but what the hotel lacked in style it made up for in service. The staff here were unbelievably nice - warm, friendly, always smiling. They answered all my questions and spoke to me candidly and respectfully. Decor throughout the hotel isn't much better than the lobby but the hotel has a nice atmosphere and you can't beat the location - it's right at the crossroads of the Bloor / Yonge subway lines, near Church Street, Yorkville and the downtown core. The rooms are nice and spacious, especially the suite. There's a restaurant on site and a nice sized gym - but that's it for amenities.

The hotel itself is not as luxurious as other Marriott properties, but the location is great. Guest have the option to either exit the hotel and walk on the city streets when the weather is nice or enter the underground concourse system directly under the hotel during unpleasant weather. The underground concourses serve multiple purposes. They provide heat and temporary shelter to commuters during the cold season. They are connected by Toronto's subway system and have shops, drug stores, and fast food restaurants. They also connect to popular office buildings and department stores from underground.

This large and odd looking hotel is very well located and is literally just steps away from the Bloor/Yonge subway station. As you walk into the space, I was greeted by friendly, helpful, and efficient staff - I didn't have to wait long at all! I'm not a huge fan of the red/gold/beige color theme at the Marriot (I think this a Marriot thing in general), but I guess it's not a big deal.

The rooms are quite spacious, and come with a flat screen tv, very comfy bedding, and even a little sitting area off to the side. There is also free WIFI, which important for a hotel that seems to catering to a business traveler crowd.

Other amenities include a workout room and a sauna (no pool though!), a restaurant (there are much better options outside the hotel), and a lounge area with 24 refreshments for night owls looking for a snack.

All in all, a clean, convenient, and well equipped hotel. Though not fancy, I could definitely see this place fitting well with business travelers looking for a practical place to stay!

This is a nice, classy hotel oddly located as a growth out of The Bay department store on Bloor Street. It's straightforward and business-like in its red, black and gold decor and probably exists mostly to serve the business needs of the booming Yonge-Bloor district. There's a nice restaurant, Matisse, on the ground level, done again in reds, yellows and blues, reminding me of the Mediterranean for some reason. The rooms are spacious, and have more of the same red and gold colour scheme, while bathrooms have dashes of black granite to break things up. There's a nice fitness centre, although there's no pool - you can however, head to their sister hotel twenty minutes south on Yonge if you really need a dip. All in all, there's nothing special about this hotel - it's straightforward and shiny, as most chains are. The best part is that it's attached to the subway, so you don't even have to go outside on cold winter days, and you can also get directly into The Bay if you need a shopping fix. Within walking distance are the ROM, Yorkville, the Church-Wellesley Village and the University of Toronto.
