The Radisson Plaza Hotel is in one of the most sought after spots in Toronto - right on the waterfront and right next to the harbourfront area where in the summer, endless festivals, free concerts and markets line the lake. Right now, however, the area around the hotel is a construction site - as the city cleans up the neighbourhood ahead of the Pan-Am games. If you stay here anytime from now (January 2015) until most likely May or June, it'll still look like this and will be quite a pain to get around. That being said, if you do choose this area, Radisson is a great place to stay. It's been renovated recently, making every common area and hotel room bright and welcoming. The room has big windows, light wooden floors and white and turquoise linen, making it look a lot bigger than it is. Nice views too overlooking the water. The dining area is very good looking as well - with both table seating and loungey couches. The dining room wraps around an outdoor pool which will be great in the summer time (obviously not open now). So if you don't mind construction noises, you can probably get a good discount before the games begin.

If you want a hotel that features one of the unique features of Toronto, its lakefront harbourfront, then look no further than the Radisson. This hotel conveys the light, carefree feeling of being by the lake, at least during the summer, in its rooms, which felt remarkably airy and light. The room also provides an amazing view of the lake, and even features airplanes flying by, although there was no sound disturbance to speak of.

The rest of the hotel is pretty class, with a fairly fancy restaurant, an outdoor pool which of course is closed in the winter, and a spa.

I’m not sure I would recommend this hotel during the winter given the weather conditions aren’t great by the lake, it is very windy. As well, it is a little difficult to get to downtown Toronto from the harbourfront with public transportation, and there is a lot of construction in that area now. However, during the summer this would be a lovely spot to enjoy one of the nicest natural features of Toronto

During the summer months, this hotel would be a fantastic choice - literally above the Harbourfront centre, you would have music, cultural events, food markets/festivals at your doorstep. This is also incredibly close to the Toronto Island Airport, the Toronto Island Ferries, and 2 highways in case you wanted to explore the surrounding area. Other notable amenities included a outdoor pool with an incredible view of the water, the lakeside view from the lounge (mediocre food and drink though), and the view of the lake from certain rooms, complete with telescopes!!!! As you can tell, the single most impressive thing about the Radisson Admiral is definitely the view.

Unfortunately, the benefits of being lakeside has its shortcoming during the lengthy Toronto winter - it is incredibly cold and windy in this area, and an outdoor pool is functionally useless in the cold, regardless of its beautiful views.

The hotel itself, with respect to the decor and general feel of the place, is adequate, if not a little boring. The colors are drab, the service is polite, and the place seems destined to be a "short business stay" type of hotel as oppose to anything exciting.

If you are visiting in the summer, this hotel is definitely a choice option - however, it seems like a different hotel all together during the cold season.

For four months of the year, this hotel has the best location in the city, sitting literally right on top of the Harbourfront Centre, with views straight across to the Toronto Islands. In the summer, there's a continuous stream of cultural events right at its doorstep, including a Friday night market and weekend concerts. The interior of the hotel is surprisingly plush, with a palette of deep violets, blues and browns and the occasional splash of red. The rooms are simple and homey, although the washrooms could use a bit of updating - why so much beige? Rooms that look out to the lake have telescopes in them for stargazing - a fun bonus feature that I've never seen anywhere else.

The fifth-floor restaurant is stylish, with yet more wraparound views of the water, and exits out to a patio with a large pool and deck that gets plenty of summer sun. There's a fairly large fitness centre, a smallish business centre and free Wi-fi - for now. While the clientele seems mostly business class, when things heat up in the city, the Radisson Admiral's breezy lake-side locale will be a real draw for tourists as well.
