Seriously, this place has it all: location, friendly service, clean rooms, nice ambience. Everything looks like it's been newly renovated because it's modern, trendy and practically sparkling. The suites have more amenities than my apartment, including: washer, dryer, large kitchen, office area, fancy bathroom... You can even hang out in the steam room after a day of shopping at the Eaton's Centre (located 5 minutes away!) The staff are so friendly, from the moment you walk in, to the moment you walk out.

This boutiquey hotel is as central is you can get - it's located right across from the Eaton Center - close to most big Toronto attractions. Walking into the lobby, I felt the design sense was a bit misguided - a strange carpet-upholstered chair combo leading up to reception - I imagine it was an attempt to appear trendy / ultra-modern. The room and common areas on the floors are in desperate need of TLC - scratched doors, peeling countertops - but I've been told renovations are set to take place soon. The rooms had a lot of potential - and a rare feature for Toronto hotels - floor to ceiling windows. Everywhere. Great light made a huge difference. The amenities are surprisingly lovely too like the welcoming, sophisticated spa. There was also a neat little room with a hot tub called the "rainforest room" - very tranquil, low lit - good for an end-of-day wind-down. There's also a martini bar right off the lobby with a huge selection of martinis and a little function room called the Martini Library.

Pantages is clearly going for the high and fast life style, with a sleek and trendy decor where everything seems pretty new. The room was very impressive- everything was in its right place, and it was as clean as can be, with new, modern furniture. There is a Japanese inspired spa, conference rooms, and an expectedly dim lit bar on the ground floor. Given that Spa is in its name, Pantages seems like the place to indulge your senses. It is a step away from Yonge and Dundas and Massey Hall, so there is great exposure to the downtown life Toronto has to offer.
It is unfortunate that the woman I worked with was only a few days into working at Pantages and was not very knowledgeable or professional, something the ownership should be concerned about if they want younger people to spend their hard earned money.

We booked a regular guest room. It turned out to be huge. Not only was there a sizable sitting area, the room included a kitchenette. The bathroom was rather small with virtually no counter space although there was a tall narrow shelf to use in lieu of the counter. The room was very quiet. The bed very comfortable with very good quality sheets. There were lots of nice touches like turn down service with the radio CD player turned on in the evenings.

The street at the front is not commercial. There is a hospital across the road, but it is around the block from busy Yonge street and the huge downtown shopping mall. I found the street at night to be very safe when I walked from the hotel to an opera a few blocks away on Yonge street.

The restaurant was adequate for breakfast. The bar in the reception area looked busy every evening.

The exercise facilities were not extensive but had all the basics and use was complimentary. There was also free internet access in a room off the reception area. It only had one computer but since I had no real need to bring my laptop (which I could have connected in the room), it was convenient.
