From the street, you may question your decision to stay at this historic hotel, but the gorgeous lobby and classy rooms will quickly win you over. It’s got a friendly little reception bar for a nightcap, and a beautifully restored hall at the top of a winding staircase for major events. The underground Vault, built into bedrock in 1913, features a 4-foot thick steel door that weighs 40 tons, but can be moved with a single finger.

Because of the restoration of One King's exterior, the hotel is a bit harder to find, but it's definitely open for business. Like the older hotels in the area, One King has an interesting history - a large portion of the hotel is in a 20th century bank and it doesn't try to hide it which I really really like. At the centre of the lobby there's an elegant marble (?) staircase leading down to old bank vaults. These quirky elements are what make the hotel so likeable.
Staying here, I suggest booking a room in the tower - yes, it's the newer part of the building but the views are spectacular. Rooms in the old part have a good view of the building next to One King making them a bit dark and dreary. The rooms themselves are sleek and modern - nice wood floors, big, comfy beds and a good bit of space. There's a dishwasher and stove in some rooms as well. There's also a nice gym and two whirlpools. The real draw is of course the location - located right at the corner of King and Yonge, you're literally steps from the subway, close to the Eaton Centre and CN tower and most other big Toronto attractions.

This is a bustling, busy place! Once you leave the crowded street on King, you’ll find almost as much crowd inside. The lobby is extravagantly decorated, with shiny floors and chandeliers, and right away you can find the bar to one side and a small restaurant on the other. Inside there were a variety of different people, from businessmen to families.

It took about 15 minutes to have a valet become free and show me a room, which once I got there was very spacious and had a small kitchenette feature. The man who showed me my room was not the nicest, but I suppose he had a lot to do! There are 500 rooms to fill after all as he told me the capacity.

The One King West Hotel also has a huge convention centre, a “vault” conference room in the basement that has a literal vault door, I guess to keep in business secrets.

Be warned, there is construction going on there at the moment, but I was assured no noise would reach the rooms. It did make it a little hard to find the hotel entrance as it covered by scaffolding, and does cover up what I hear is a beautiful historic building.

Walking up to One King West, I didn't realize how nice of hotel this place really is , but I got get a much better sense of the grandeur once I got inside. My personal favourite area within the hotel is the "Grand Banking Hall" (One King West is housed in what used to a bank). I work in the hospitality/venues industry, and I must say that is one of most beautiful spaces in the city, particularly if you get a chance to sneak into the hall during the quieter hours and enjoy the space in all of its silent almost haunting beauty...go in the evening!

The rooms are quite large, very clean, and chalk full of the amenities you would expect at a top hotel - extremely soft and comfy bedding, flat screen TV, internet, and even a small kitchenette (microwave too!), which is great if you are staying in the city for a few days.

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous - a perfect fusion of old-world class and modern comfort. Built out of a turn-of-the-century bank, the lobby, basement and main event space all retain original details, such as sweeping marble staircases, grand chandeliers, and even a giant, metal vault. There's plenty of workspaces and places to relax on the main floor, and you definitely get the sense that there are many people who make this hotel their temporary home while in Toronto. The rooms, which are mainly in the large glass tower that protrudes out of the old building are all set up as suites, and many of them have kitchenettes with a microwave, stove-top burner and washer/dryer. The floor-to-ceiling windows add drama and light, as well as views down to the lake or across King Street, and while there is something a little too minimalist about the decor for my personal taste, the soothing neutrals do make for a relaxing place to lay your head. The amazing location right on top of the King subway station certainly doesn't hurt either.

Great location, near train, subway and shopping. The hotel is very comfortable, and has a mini kitchenette, and laundry right in the room (very handy). I would and have recommended this property for anyone wanting to go to Toronto.

Nice. The views from the "Historic" rooms aren't as nice as the newer rooms, but they make up for it with high ceilings and a feeling of spaciousness. The location is excellent, and the experience very good overall. The lobby bar is a great waiting/people watching space, and the rooms all have the usual suite amenities - fridge, sink, etc.
