This place is great, but the location might make some uncomfortable. Even though it's located close to the Eaton's Centre, its on Jarvis St., so you're guaranteed to see a confused drug addict or lonely hooker at some point. Despite that, it's still a very safe, unique part of town.

The hotel itself is wonderful. You're greeted by doormen the moment you walk in, and the service is incredibly friendly and more importantly, sincere. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. The fitness area looks newly renovated and made me actually WANT to work out. This place is worth every penny.

The Grand is a hotel for those looking for something with a little elegance but not too over the top. The rooms were very impressive and had some character from hard wood floors and older, more antique furniture, which I appreciated.

What was very unique and impressive about the hotel was its panoramic view of Toronto from the rooftop terrace, where you got a mostly unobstructed 360 degree view of the city, something I had never personally seen before in Toronto. The hotel has all the frills, with a hot jacuzzi on the roof, gym facility, and a lovely underground grotto style swimming pool.

The service was impeccable, with an eager young lady pulling no stops in giving me an in depth tour of the hotel. You also can’t complain about the location, which is close to the downtown heart of Toronto, Yonge and Dundas, while being far away enough that there’s not a rushed feeling outside. The lobby could use a brush up as it felt a little stuffy, and the reception was not the most professional, but that is nit picking.

The Grand is modern luxury with a killer view. I was impressed by the modern updates to classic design as soon as I walked into the lobby - continuing to impress with the rooms and the amenities. The rooms are spacious with hardwood floors giving them a touch of elegance. Amenities are excellent here too - especially the indoor pool - I almost felt as though I had left Toronto and arrived in Paris with its neo-classical design. But what impressed me the most was the rooftop patio - the panoramic views of the city are spectacular and there's plenty of seating to take it all in. Attention to detail in the design like chandeliers in the hallways also made it feel like The Grand was really making the effort to ensure its guests could experience the best of local luxury. The hotel is a stone's throw away from Dundas Square, Eaton Centre and most major downtown attractions.

Very nice hotel. The room was very spacious and was divided into two parts which allowed for more privacy. The kitchenette and refrigerator were extremely useful. The staff was generally very nice and helpful. My only issue was that after a long day of sightseeing in the city, we came back after 4 pm and the room still hadn't been cleaned! The cleaning lady in the hall then stated when we asked her about the state of the room, that she left at 5:30. Of course she never cleaned the room. We had to call down to the desk for another person to clean the room and delivery fresh towel. On another day, it took the room several hours to be refreshed even though she was only next door when we left. Also, this hotel is very nice, but it is just a couple of blocks for a half way house. You will see some vagrants. If that is bothersome to you, I suggest you stay elsewhere. The location, however, is great. About a 10 minute walk to St. Lawrence or about a 7 minute walk to Yonge-Dundas Square.
