Baldwin is hands down one of the loveliest streets in Toronto - it's lined with smaller shops, cafes and restaurants and feels very local in the heart of the downtown bustle. Its proximity to the AGO, Chinatown and the downtown core make it an ideal place to stay when visiting Toronto and fortunately, there's a great place to stay right on Baldwin. The Village Inn is more like a bed and breakfast - located in a beautiful old house - built in the 1800s. The interior is bright and warm with wooden floors throughout. There are lovely common areas like a living room, big kitchen (where complimentary breakfast is served every morning), three bathrooms and a nice wooden patio. The room is small but comfortable - the only downside is that it doesn't (nor do any of the rooms) have a bathroom en suite - but there will always be one a few metres away.

I loved this place! Walking in, there is little to distinguish this bed and breakfast from someone’s house, which isn’t a criticism or complaint at all, it gives the place an immediate feeling of comfort. The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated, with a huge comfortable bed, and plenty of space. They were not stuffy at all. When I entered the building I was greeted by the lovely Robert, who treated me like an immediate new friend. It was very personal, informal service, where it felt like Robert wasn’t doing a job but something he actually enjoyed. There’s a nice big kitchen area with a big table, and was told many interesting conversations happen there, such as mathematicians from all around the world discussing their work. It seems like the place where you’ll meet interesting intellectual types and have great conversations. This is all not to mention the great local character of Baldwin Village, which has authentic local restaurants right next door. Highly recommend this place!

This little gem is on one of my favorite little streets in the city and is exactly what any bed and breakfast should be - painfully cute, homey, and staffed by a naturally hospitable owner! The location itself is fantastic, as Baldwin St. is filled with great restaurants choices and is also within walking distance to Chinatown, Kensington Market, and tons of other cultural/shopping areas in the city.

The house itself is really charming, with a yellow and blue doll-house front entrance, worn furniture, a small but quaint backyard garden area, and a patio with funky furniture. The rooms are fairly large and very clean, there is a sitting area with books and a television, free wifi is included.

The best thing about the Baldwin Village Inn is the owner, who seems so friendly and gracious - we arrived without any notice and were quickly encouraged to sit down to a cup of tea and a chat!

This is a beautiful, little inn in a great location. Baldwin Village is a charming street, jam-packed with restaurants and cafes right in the middle of the city, steps from the University of Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario, Chinatown and Kensington Market. Indeed, Baldwin used to be the center of both the old Jewish and Chinese neighbourhoods, and hints of this history can still be seen in the original signs that remain on many of the buildings.
The inn itself is a quaint, yellow and blue Victorian home that looks like a doll-house. After showing up unexpectedly, I'm invited in warmly, and offered a cup of tea - this atmosphere of kindness and hospitality permeates throughout the house. There's a pretty garden in the back and a patio upstairs -- perfect for sipping a morning cup of coffee. Rooms are spacious, some with couches and there are the usual B&B touches of homey art, books to read and antiques scattered about. Washrooms, however, are shared, which might be a deterrent for those who like their privacy. A continental breakfast and free Wi-Fi are included, and the owners are gracious and helpful hosts, making this a place that guests return to again and again.
