Quezon City

A luxury hotel located in Nihonbashi. It occupies the top 9 floors of the 34-story Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower. Very cozy ambience and no noisy crowds. I love the peace and calm this hotel has. Their restaurants are several of the best in Tokyo. And the service is just excellent. A metro station is right in front of the hotel.

Expensive and worth it? Well you will have to judge but the rooms are high tech, spacious and very well appointed. Turndown service with towel replacement, pillow menu and great views. Nice breakfast and superb staff.

I think that this is the best property in Tokyo -- much better than both the Ritz and the Peninsula (2 other recent entries into the market).

Best things about the property:

- Impeccable modern Asian design
- Great views of the city (even from the restrooms)
- Top notch service that is a more flexible than most hotels in Japan. Very attentive and successful in both responding to and anticipating needs
- Diversity of restaurants
- Spacious well-designed rooms
- Large wet area connected to the spa
- Intimate / quiet feeling in public spaces

Opportunities for improvement:

- Location isn't perfect for tourism but isn't bad
- You pay dearly for the privilege (especially at the spa)
- Bar area can get smokey (but this is Japan)

After speeding up 38 floors to the Mandarin Oriental's front desk, guests walk onto a virtual panorama of the Tokyo skyline. All of Mandarin's accommodations, including 8 five-star restaurants, a luxury spa and a range of guest rooms and suites, take full advantage of the incredible bird's eye view and feature the stunning skyline at every turn. Located in the central district of Nihonbashi, known as the “centre of Japan” since the Edo era, the Mandarin is the ideal base for any and all Tokyo explorations. There is even subway access to the Mitsukoshimae Station (Tokyo Metro Ginza Line and Hanzomon Line) located directly under the hotel.

Unbelievable hotel. Simply beautiful.

When I asked where the bathroom was in the bar/lounge, one waitress walked me over to another hotel staff member, and I could feel that the movement had been practiced, choreographed, but besides that moment, I was virtually unaware of the perfectionist level of service. I think it has a lot to do with the design of the space. In the lounge the seats are high backed and face the view, and the lighting is dark, so you feel you can have a private conversation in the midst of all the attention. The common space feels sophisticated, and oddly private.

Both the Cantonese and contemporary French restaurants are one star Michilin restaurants, and the tables all have crazy views.

There are so many thoughtful, artistic touches to this hotel, in the rooms, in the common space, in the restaurants; it's definitely one of the best, possibly the best luxury hotel in Tokyo.

This is a really awesome hotel!!

You can stay all day in this hotel but you won't get bored. In this hotel, they have everything, including a gym, spa, great restaurants and bar. I especially, loved a bar called Oriental Lounge, which is located on the 38th floor where check in is. Actually, Oriental Lounge isn't just a bar, but you you can also enjoy afternoon tea and coffee.

It's definitely worth staying here for a once in a lifetime visit to Tokyo. There's a subway stop in the basement of the building, which is cool.
