New York City

The Atlas group refurbished a Bauhaus Move Theater in the center of the city at Dizengoff Square into a hit boutique hotel. Its central to pretty much everything and only a 5-10 minute walk to the beaches. Movie posters and projectors throughout the hotel. Comfy beds in well designed rooms, some with balconies. A nice rooftop with great views, a really awesome breakfast buffet and a friendly helpful staff make this a great base for your adventures in Tel Aviv.

New York City

Beautiful location and also pretty central. The bikes for rent are a great amenity. The breakfast is served across the street so no PJ for breakfast!

The Cinema Hotel is a beautiful example of a boutique hotel. It is located off of Dizengoff Square, which is central and gives access to all of Tel Aviv. Despite the noise of the city, the lobby of the Cinema Hotel is quiet and welcoming. The Cinema Hotel is an homage to old cinema in Tel Aviv. The building is of Bauhaus design and is the former site of the Esther Cinema, one of Tel Aviv's first movie theatres. The main staircase is beautiful and reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour. There are artifacts from cinema's beginnings all over the hotel. The design is beautiful and tastefully done and all the details are related to cinema in some way or another. The dining hall has old movie posters on the wall. The rooms also tie in to the theme with director's chairs and spotlights. They are simple and comfortable. There is also a rooftop terrace area that has a hot tub and a sauna.

Local from Tel Aviv

One of the nicest renovated Bauhaus buildings in Tel Aviv, the Cinema hotel is right in the center of town and serves as a kind of museum of Israeli Cinema. Everyplace you go in the hotel you'll find interesting prints and projectors and other objects connected to Israel's film history. Rooms are well appointed and even have small, Bauhaus patios. Though Dizengoff Circle is nothing to see these days (unless it is the day of the flea market), the wall in reception features a huge photograph featuring the circle as it was. You can eat breakfast in the hotel, use the small business center, visit their sauna and the indoor and outdoor Jacuzzis all before going out to the patio to soak up some sun. Highly recommended.

OK, first I tend to loathe anything which describes itself as a boutique hotel. But you've just got to love this building - one of the first cinemas to open in Tel Aviv and especially stunning from the outside for its sleek art deco lines. Today's concept isn't for me - it's about the beach and wi-fi - but I'm still allowed to be impressed by a noteworthy bit of architecture.
