inscribed by UNESCO to the World Heritage List in 1988. The cathedral, the four ancient churches and the Palais Rohan, former residence of the prince-bishops, far from appearing as isolated monuments form a district that is characteristic of a medieval town and illustrates Strasbourg's evolution from the 15th to the 18th century.

STRASBOURG
Strasburg is the capital and the largest city of the Alsace-Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine region in eastern France and it’s the official seat of the European Parliament. The city is chiefly known for its sandstone Gothic Cathedral with its famous astronomical clock, and for its medieval cityscape of Rhineland black and white timber-framed buildings, particularly in the Petite France district or Gerberviertel. For a city of comparatively small size, Strasbourg displays a large quantity and variety of ancient houses and a variety of museums. And the food and restaurants are top of the bill.

Strasbourg is a beautiful town with a rich conflicted history. Germanic influences abound to the uneducated eye but all visitors must be careful to recognize this is a French town. Be sure to try the Strasbourg specialty chocolate cake: sacher torte. Ask for it in French. The town has a young vibe because of the university but it abounds with history for the strolling through the historical area. Really one of my favorite French cities.
