Gingerbread-style mansions in the Petite France neighborhood. Strolling across the canals, narrow bridges, ivy-draped walls and wrought-iron streetlamps. Reminds me of the storybook teller Le Petit Prince atmosphere. Walking through the walkway that is covered with stone bridge. Even tho it's a bit touristy, but it makes you believe that you wish you had live in the mid-century life!

STRASBOURG
Strasburg is the capital and the largest city of the Alsace-Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine region in eastern France and it’s the official seat of the European Parliament. The city is chiefly known for its sandstone Gothic Cathedral with its famous astronomical clock, and for its medieval cityscape of Rhineland black and white timber-framed buildings, particularly in the Petite France district or Gerberviertel. For a city of comparatively small size, Strasbourg displays a large quantity and variety of ancient houses and a variety of museums. And the food and restaurants are top of the bill.

This is perhaps the most romantic district in Strasbourg, especially at nightfall. La Petite France was the corner of fisherman, tanners and millers. In the 16th century, a hospital was established here for the soldiers of King of France François I.

A quaint part of town, Le Petite France offers tourists a glimpse at what Alsace-Lorraine used to look like during medieval times. There’s also plenty of shops and places to try authentic french dishes.

A nice place to walk around, as you'll see how Strasbourg looked like at the end of the middle ages. Very colorful house with style. It's very touristic, walking there around lunch time is a good way to find a nice restaurant to eat at.

Petite France is an area on Grande Ile, called the Venice of the North because of its narrow streets and canals, a delightful remainder of medieval Strasbourg. In the Middle Ages, the beautiful half-timbered houses were the homes of fishermen, miller, and tanners, complete with the characteristic tiered sloping roofs where hides were once hung up to dry on the topmost rafters.
