Grab the kids and drive straight towards the ancestral home of the Anheuser Busch family. Named for its original owner, Ulysses S. Grant, this farmstead provides complimentary access to assorted animals, tram rides and all of the shows. Parking is additional at $12/car, as well as $5 camel rides and $1 bottles for parakeet and goat feedings. Watch your children’s faces light up at the elephant extravaganza. Listen for squeals over the crazy antics of the lemurs and the wallabies. Tour the prestigious Clydesdale horse stables and come face-to-face with these furry-legged equine giants. Guests over 21 can taste-test Budweiser beers.

Sometime during the 1840s, General US Grant was introduced to his future wife, Julia Dent, at the Dent's farm known as White Haven. He was stationed at the Jefferson Barracks, and got to know Julia Dents brother, who was a fellow officer at the Barracks. The brother invited Grant to the home, and he fell in love with his friend, and fellow officer's sister, Julia Dent, and the rest is history. The couple farmed on this land during the 1850s, and lived here off and on after Grant left the Presidency.
This property is a National Historic Site administered by the National Park Service. There is the farm, the slave quarters, and a museum dedicated to Grant's life. It is well worth the visit.
