Srinagar Holidays

The jewel of the Kashmir Vale, the lakeside city of Srinagar often gets a bad rap owing to its episodes of periodic unrest (and they can get pretty bad), but in times of calm (which are extended and many) it can be a singularly beautiful place. Situated alongside Dal Lake with its thousands of houseboats and gondola-like shikara plying the waters, ... Read more
it's a place of mosques and gardens, with an atmospheric old city and distant mountain views. Be prudent and check the situation on the ground before you come, but don't let the alarmists deter you.

With a lovely lake before a backdrop of high, dusty mountains, an interesting Old City and pleasant Mughal gardens, and the deepest and most genuine Islamic Sufi culture in India, there's much to like about Srinagar. It sees primarily Indian tourists, and is wildly popular during the summer yatra (pilgrimage) season, where people ready themselves or recuperate from a trek in the nearby holy mountains. There's some hassle here: the Kashmiri Muslims are known as importuning and somewhat apt to scam you, especially if you're renting one of the town's 1500 houseboats, which are a pleasant if not entirely essential part of the Srinagar experience. Still, Srinagar is a neat place. Don't let the fears in the media scare you: if there's active unrest, give the town a miss, but otherwise it's as safe as anywhere in India.

Wont be fully able to tell how Kashmir is, but Srinagar will surely be able give you the trailer of Kashmir. Situated in himalayas, this city is home to many famous gardens, few parks and obviously spectacular Dal lake with its famous house boats and shikaras. Its a must visit site

Houseboats In Dal Lake Srinagar Kashmir ......
Houseboat Zaindari Palacel Group Of Houseboats are run in economy and luxury grades, comparatively all suitable rates. Each houseboat is having the capacity of two to five bedrooms, adjoining bathrooms, a drawing room, a pantry, the upper deck, with a separate kitchen boat, partly occupied by the staff .

Living on water is traditional in Kashmir and without having that opportunity, at least once, the visit (to Kashmir) remains incomplete, for missing the fascinating charms, offered nowhere in the world. In the peaceful aquatic surroundings, detached from the usual frenzy of city life, the sight revels at glowing reflections of the horizon,

At leisurely hours cruising by a Gandola type Shikara fetch a delightful scene of floating gardens dotted by smiling lotus and bloom .
Our family has worked very hard to create a homely ambience with all the modern amenities. Customers satisfaction is our motto.

Deluxe houseboat at Dal Lake, maintained by a traditional Kasmiri family. You will have the opportunity to experience the true hospitability of Kashmiri people, taste the local cuisine (also European food and spiceless dishes available), drink free Kahwa (traditional Kashmiri tea).
If there is any place on earth that can be crowned as the Empress of natural beauty that would undoubtedly be Kashmir.

Surrounded by pleasing vegetation made up of gardens and orchards and wrapped up with fresh cool breeze, this lake is best explored and enjoyed in a houseboat. Houseboats in Dal Lake is an integral part of its existence and offers a memorable stay and experience that lasts
a lifetime.

One of my favorite places in the world. It is hands down a great place to relax and the people I meet here are amazingly friendly. The hardest part is getting past the Western stigma about this place.

Srinagar is not easy to get to. Most people take the long bus or jeep rides through the mountains to get here. Flight is also another option, if you dont mind the constant security checks.

There is a lot to see in Srinigar, like Dal Lake, and the many gardens, as well as lot of other towns and places to visit around, including Gulmarg.

If you can get past the stigma of how dangerous the area is, then I would recommend Srinagar. It is actually a very safe and friendly place.
