here, you can see why Zion National Park is considered one of the most beautiful for hiking. You can start at the Visitor Center, which is open from 8 am to 7 pm; you can take a free, 90-minute shuttle bus tour that departs from the Visitor Center. But do be careful to get a ticket from the information desk at the Visitor Center. You are sure to see that the options at Zion National Park are almost endless, including backpacking, dozens of hiking trails and canyoneering.

Great place to explore and they offer the free shuttle! Parking is a little risky but we got lucky and got a spot right at the Visitors center. We then drove through Carmel Tunnel and did the Overlook hike. We didn’t even see the main parts of the park and it was still beautiful!

If you like to hike, then this is the place for you! Zion has hiking for everyone. If you don’t like hiking, then drive through the parks public road.

The sights at Zion are breathtaking. The colors of the rocks are beautiful. Visited in a nice day on October, it was chilly so bring a jacket.
If you like walking in the water bring your water hiking equipment;)

This is not the best visitor center that I have been to, but its still pretty good. However this is not about the park, just this visitor center which also holds the primary NPS store on site...

The Rangers manning the primary desk here are the most stickler types that I have ever come across. Perhaps its just the ones that were on duty while i was there, but if this crew didnt have a ramrod where well you know, i would be stunned. Most Rangers are laid back relaxed fun outdoorsy types. The crew I came across was like the exact opposite; like a marine drill instructor reject who was kicked out for being too harsh... yeah that type...
The NPS store had some nice items that i havent seen anywhere else. These included a couple of small junior ranger accoutrements, dry fit clothing, multiple styles of water bottles/canteens. There is also a large area with additional rangers who were there to help with permitting it appeared. I didnt end up interacting with them, but I doubt that they were as hardcore as the ones at the information desk.

It was a real weird feeling dealing with those rangers... but the rest of the staff inside was very pleasant to interact with. Heck they even had a few items on sale that was pretty nice. I ended up getting a shirt and a couple of items for the munchkin... None the less the prices here otherwise were a bit higher for the same or similar items to other parks... so they are trying to pay some bills with the onsite store it would seem IMHO...

But lots of good information and a nice store are located here... Regardless of anything else, this is a must stop to check out at the very least or to get a jr ranger booklet if you have a young one with you...

Typical for a visitor center, clean, open and full of french and german people. I love that in Zion you have to take a bus to get to any of the trails, they really have their shit together. Lets hope other parks use it as an example.

One of my favorite places in the world. Only been once but fell instantly and totally in love. I will return many times before I die. Next time, to the narrows. The end of Angel's Landing Trail has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth!! Did not have nearly enough time to stay here but will be back many times in my life. Moving near there soon
