$50 gets you the most spectacular view of Lake Tahoe. About a 20 minute ride if you want to stop at observation deck on way up (can't do it on way down).

SPRING - Heavenly is the largest ski resort in the Tahoe Basin, but don't miss out on a visit here during the off season. The rest of the year, when the snow finally melts, Heavenly continues to operate its grand gondola. It's about a 2.5 mile ride up the mountain with unbeatable views of Lake Tahoe. At just over 9,000 feet, you can stop at the Observation Deck for a drink or snack and savor the aerial views of the basin. On a clear day you can often catch a glimpse of Reno to the NE!

You must do this at least once, even if you aren't skiing. It's worth the splurge on a clear day to see the view of the lake from above. There's also a great observation deck at the top to check out the area. Make sure your camera's all charged up, because you're going to want photographic proof of the beauty of Tahoe's landscape. Park at the shopping center for free (for two hours).

The gondola takes you from the village down below to the top of the maintain. Whether you are skiing, exploring, or wanting to dine up top, you can use this lift. The gondolas are new, nice and fast.

The view alone is worth the trip in the Gondola to the top of Heavenly Ski Resort--I am even afraid of heights and I have braved it to the top--it was the most amazing view that I had ever seen and the outdoor restaurant at the top was a lot of fun, too--watch out for the chipmunks!!!

I personally haven't had an opportunity to ride the gondolas to the top of he mountain but hopefully soon. With a family of five, the cost would be somewhere around $150 and that doesn't include the tubing and sledding fee of $30 per hour per person once you get up top.

From what I hear the views are just gorgeous of Lake Tahoe and surroundings.

The most convenient way to ski Heavenly. My husband and I were just there in December 2011 and it was so easy, especially since we stayed at the Marriott right next door.
