My second favorite hawker centre in Singapore. There's a lot of good and cheap food here. Of course Tian Tian Chicken rice is what it is most known for and that makes sense as it is amazing. A must stop on the hawker centre tour of Singapore.

If you want to eat something before going to somewhere, the food court is a good choice for you.

Definitely visit if you like cheap, yet good and authentic local fare! Half of the stalls here are famous. Not the cleanest place, but that's hawker centers for you. Locals love it here. I personally love the Curry Rice on the red plates and the Goreng Pisang (deep fried banana in batter). If you want chicken rice, there's Tian Tian but beware of long queues!

This hawker centre sells some of the best local food. Traditional favourites such as chicken rice from the famous Tian Tian chicken rice stall where celebrity chef Gordan Ramsey cooked against local chefs, rice porridge, sliced fish bee hoon, banana fritters and tapioca cake

Located just opposite the Red Dot museum, here you'll find an astounding array of local Singaporean food, which is arguably some of the best in Singapore. If you don't know what to try, go with a group and order an assortment of dishes from the different stalls to share, this way you get to try a bit of everything and will know what best suits your palate. To do it the local way, go for the stalls with the longer queues, it is usually a favourite stall amongst locals and known for its good food.

Insanely tasty chicken rice. The rice is flavourful and the meat servings are great

Love the chicken and rice. The vegetables are a great add on and completes the meal. Must try in Singapore.

Many hawkers sold various type of Chinese food, but the most popular is Hainan Chicken Rice, the price here quite reasonable and may people have their lunch here.

Super crowded and filthy. Often you'll see bugs and insects crawls near/within the stalls.

If you're in Chinatown, a good place to sample a variety of food is Maxwell Food Centre. It gets packed at lunch with all the people from the offices nearby. Generally, you can't go wrong with the stores with the queues - Tian Tian chicken rice and the fish soup store at the end of the centre. Local Tip: You'll notice locals reserving seats with tissue paper packets (only in Singapore)

(The scoop with Tian Tian)
Tian Tian has recently been in media spotlight when Chef Gordan Ramsy decided to battle it out (culinary-wise) with the chicken rice cooks. Chef Ramsy lost of course.

And the latest news amongst foodies in-the-know: Tian Tian's head chef has left to start his own store Ah Tai's Chicken rice (just 3 doors away) I tried both and they're about the same standard. I am told that Wee Nam Kee chicken rice is better.

Every bang for just one buck!! Better than Chatterbox in my opinion but hurry they run out of the original. Must get some if you're ever there and really convenient to get to!

A good hawker (i.e., street food) center conveniently located near China Town. A great place to sample a variety of local food. The chicken rice stall midway down the first row is legendary.. just wish I could remember the name.

A great outdoor food court-ish "hawker center". A must for anyone curious about the different cuisines of the melting pot of Singapore. Take your time to browse the various stalls before making your decision. There are so many options, you'll want to make sure you don't miss a hidden gem. Many first time visitors can watch to see which stalls have the queues of locals lining up, I'd wager those are the best vendors.

Personally, I recommend grabbing a plate of chicken rice from one of the very capable vendors. Tian Tian has long been the favored vendor, but I hear the former chef there has setup his own stall at An-Tai.

This stall at Maxwell Food Centre is said to serve the best chicken rice in Singapore. The outside of the stall is covered with its positive reviews, including one from Anthony Bourdain.

That said, this chicken rice won't appeal to everyone. The chicken is poached and the texture is a bit slimy. I did like the flavorful rice and the chili sauce, but didn't care for the chicken meat. I prefer the roasted chicken rice you get at other stalls in the same food center.

I had "Chau Gua Diu" here and it was unbelievable delicious. I would love to go back to Singapore just to get that again.

Great place. Currently under renovation. Assume it should be back in operation by Jan 2013. Double check before heading over there.
