Why Go

Seminyak is Kuta's high-end sibling just to the north, with its luxury hotels, upmarket shopping, fashionable bars like Potato Head Beach Club , and fancy restaurants. The atmosphere is quieter here and the sophisticated clientele is more interested in spa treatments at Cozy Spa and boutique shopping than in getting rowdy and hanging ten. Beaches here are tops, so don't spend all of your days at the spa! When you are ready to party, head to the unmissable chic Ku Dé Ta , ranked as one of the top bar/clubs in various travel publications. For staying, go all out and treat yourself to the Oberoi Bali. ... Read more

Two words: $hit show. Seminyak (and Kuta I particular) are pretty chaotic beach towns - not particularly classy (especially on bigger holidays) - probably would not spend more than 2-3 nights here unless your a fan of the rowdy backpacker beach scene. Would much rather suggest Ubud for the authentic, cultural and unique Balinese experience.

This was taken on the way to Tanah Lot. I would presume it's somewhere in Seminyak. Well, not that it really mattered but the lushly green scenery is certainly something that can't be missed.

The many boutiques, restaurants and bars of Seminyak can be reached in just 38km from my villas at the Sahaja Sawah resort for those wishing to pull themselves away on occasions for shopping and busy nightlife.

This is actually located along the back of petitenget street in Bali. It's pretty nice. Not too crowded, and there are lots of restaurants around it.

I really like Seminyak. Definitely my favorite part of the island this close to Kuta. No doubt, it is well touristed but the restaurants, bars, and hotels here are a bit more classy and it isn't quite the meat market that you'll find in Kuta.

A good compromise between a desire for nightlife and infrastructure and the desire to get away from it all.

Kuta is suited for backpackers and surfers and Seminyak is more suited for families. We would usually rent a villa in Seminyak. There are nice boutique shops and cafes here.

Some says that Seminyak is the "Beverly Hills" of Bali. I think so too. It is overpriced, most store carry local designer with European flair and crowded. Definitely not a place for bargain hunter. Great place to meet young couple or "bule" with money (for real). Stay in a private villa, shop a USD 200-400 clothing and USD 100 bag and splurge while in Seminyak. Eat at Warung Made and visit local jewelry store. You definitely wont find a $5 Bali bag here. I like it - I will visit once or twice, but definitely wont linger, as it is, as I said, overpriced.
