neighborhood up 12 ft. higher than before, subsequently ensuring that the gravity-assisted flush toilets funnelling into Elliot Bay wouldn’t ever overflow from high tide again. Another result was the creation of the Seattle Underground, a network of passageways underneath downtown Seattle. The areas of the subterranean world made accessible for guided tours have been renovated and made safe for curious adventurers.

I did the Haunted Underground tour, and it was pretty fun and full of interesting stories of the history of Seattle. I would go back and do the full underground tour as well.

Amazing tour! Totally recommend, especially if you like history. It does require some walking and stair climbing burn not to bad.

Fairly interesting tour, exploring the underground areas around pioneer square and Seattle's history. I would not recommend it for young kids.

After years of seeing the tours wandering around Pioneer Square, I finally booked with our family from Switzerland. It was amazing! Check out the Swallow's Rest guidebook for tips on where to eat and drink in the neighborhood.

I would guess the Seattle Underground Tours vary a lot based on your guide, and ours was fantastic. Delivered a lot of Seattle history in a fun/funny way, while still making sure to highlight all of the important bits. Learned a lot, and would try one of their other tours the next time I'm in town.

You need to take this tour just to find out about the garment district! It's what saved Seattle's economy!

This was so boring! It's a tour about the history of toilets with some seamstress jokes thrown in.

I did both the underground tour and the ghost adventure tour. I would say go on the regular tour and skip the ghost one. The underground tour is filled with lots of history and funny, unique stories of how seattle came to be. It was a lot of fun while still being informative. Wear comfortable shoes though, you'll be walking on uneven floors and and stairs. the tour is about an hour as well so comfortable shoes are best.

Did you know that the purple square glass patterns in the downtown sidewalks let in light to the deserted underground of Seattle? Learning that tidbit about Seattle doesn't at all capture how fascinating it is to actually see the light filtering down while you're under the Seattle sidewalks.

There are many interesting and unforgettable stories on the Underground tour which brings to light the humor, history and obstacles of settling in the Puget Sound area and the early construction of what would later be Pioneer Square in Seattle. This tour is spendy, however I found the information and stories to be well worth the time and money.

One of Seattle's coolest tours shines a light on an often-forgot part of the city's history -- the Great Seattle fire and the rebuilding that put the old city underground. Some of these creepy old ruins are still accessible, and I'm a real sucker for the dark side of history. The well-priced tour is convenient for being right in Pioneer Square, and even more convenient because it begins and ends in a cool historic bar. I loved the feeling of getting an inside look at the buried city, learning how it came to be forgotten after functioning for a little while as a real underground neighborhood.
