Deca is an extremely funky hotel, where every last element of decor and furnishing has been thought through. Modelled in 1920's art deco fashion but with a modern twist (the hotel building itself was built in 1931) the lobby, the rooms, every aspect is a feast for the eyes.
If you don't want to stay in the hustle and bustle of downtown South Lake Union is a good second choice, and the bonus is you can enjoy gorgeous Lake and city views from the restaurant/bar terrace. Parking is available for a reasonable $20/night.

Originally opened in 1931, this 16-story boutique property is just two blocks from the University of Washington campus, one mile from the UW Medical Center, and three miles from downtown. A $2 million renovation in 2007 gave the hotel contemporary furnishings and bright colors in its lobby and Art Deco-inspired guestrooms.

When I first visited Seattle, I thought - who would want to stay near the university when they could stay downtown? But the University district is not your average college campus area. It’s a fun, quirky neighborhood in its own right, with as many clubs as Capitol Hill and as many awesome restaurants as Belltown.
Hotel Deca is a great place to stay if you’re visiting this neighborhood. The decor of the rooms and lobby fit the vibe of the area perfectly, and it’s really clean, comfortable, and a great price for what you get.

If you’re a coffee drinker (and in Seattle, it’s hard not to be one), you’ve got to try Trabant Coffee, which is just a block away. It’s the kind of cafe that takes a ton of pride in really training their baristas on pulling the perfect espresso shot. And as far as food goes, you’ll find pizza, Greek, Indian, Thai - pretty much anything you could want on University Way.

If I need to stay in the U-district, Hotel Deca is my first choice! The staff is extremely nice and helpful if you have questions about the hotel or the area, and the hotel itself is just plain cool. It’s trendy-looking but doesn’t have a stuck up vibe at all, and the rooms are both hip and comfortable. They have a little fitness center too, which isn’t something you tend to find with smaller boutique hotels.

That’s a good thing - you can use it to burn some calories after eating at the District Lounge! Get the macaroni and cheese with bacon (because bacon makes everything better, of course). They have great cocktails too, especially martinis. And on the weekends you can watch live jazz, which is really nice and a relaxing change of pace from the regular nightlife scene in the area (keep in mind, this is a college town!).

I really need to start using priceline because apparently it seems to work out great for everyone else when it comes to boutique hotels like Hotel Deca.

Hotel Deca is extraordinarily modern, colorful, vibrant and gives off a great vibe for a young happening place which conveniently fits in with its proximity close to U-district in Seattle. If you're nice, or the front desk is in a good mood, you can score free daily lattes from Tully's inserted inside the hotel.

The cool part that is unusual is that this bar has live music. When my friend told me about it, I was pretty skeptical since it was a hotel bar and although I'm used to it being nice, I have yet to see a band.

Unfortunately, we got a DJ. I guess that's cool? Is that live music? Anyway, being a boutique hotel, be prepared to sleep next to the wall because if you get 2 beds the room is all of the length of your body or so.
