Known for its seafood, coffee, and its famously wet weather, Seattle is a beautiful city situated in the heart of the Puget Sound. No matter when you’re traveling to Seattle, some attractions are good rain or shine. Newbies will want to head to Pike Place Market, which has been a Seattle institution since 1907, making it one of the oldest farmer’s markets in the U.S. After that, try some salmon and chips, a classic Seattle dish, at one of the many fish restaurants on the Seattle waterfront. Those unafraid of heights will want to take the elevator up to the top of the Space Needle, which has become a symbol of Seattle with its unique flying-saucer-shaped observation deck located 520 feet above ground. From there you'll see unrivaled views of ... Read more
the city and the looming Mt. Rainier in the distance. On sunny days, the ferry is a nice way to see the city, relax, and explore one of the islands in the Puget Sound, like Whidbey. Outdoor activities are always abundant around Seattle with great hiking, water sports, and biking close by. Hotels can be found in great numbers downtown, but look to the University District for good deals. With a definite northwestern, independent feel, Seattle is a perfect combination of nature meets city making for the perfect getaway.
Seattle's reputation for wet weather is perhaps both deserved and overblown: it doesn't actually get as much total rain as many other U.S. cities, but it does have more days per year with at least some amount of precipitation. For your best chances of not having your picnic rained out, visit between March and September when the rain is least heavily concentrated and the city’s residents make their way outdoors for music festivals galore. Temperatures in this coastal city are pretty mild, rarely getting hotter than the low 80s (27°-29°C) in the summer or dipping below freezing in the winter.

Everyone’s first thought of Seattle is rain. Their first question is “ doesn’t rain a lot up there?” Followed by their opinion “ it rains too much in Seattle for me.” Yes it rains and for months during winter. May or May not snow. Summer is best time of year (unless you’re a winter person) to enjoy all of Seattle’s natural beauty. Lakes, Bays, Island, beaches, Forest and Mountain tops. Nightlife is very diverse, entertainment for all. Hungry, well your in the right city. LOOK UP! I bet there’s food in eye sight. What can I say. I love the place.

I took my first trip to Seattle in January. All I can say is.."When can we go back?!" My husband and I loved every minute of it, even the rainy parts! Luckily we got there during a time of mostly sunshine even the locals were shocked about. Yes, it is true, you can smoke weed on the streets, but I honestly did not find it alarming or annoying in the slightest. There are SO many things to do in Seattle- Pike Place, Kerry Park, Space Needle,....you name it! I would recommend staying as close as possible to Pike Place Market so you can literally just walk out of your door! Staying right next to Pike Place was by far my most favorite aspect of the trip. Highly recommended for anyone and everyone!

Can't visit Seattle and not take a trip to the market. It's where it all begin, lots of culture, food and people. So enjoyable when the weather is good

Seattle is a great city with plenty to see and do. The neighborhoods are cute too. I've been lucky to have visited several times and had great weather for all of my visits.

To be honest, I didn't really rate Seattle. I think perhaps I was biased because I just came from Vancouver and then moved on to Portland, two great cities by comparison. Seattle does have some things going for it such as all the attractions, the space needle being the most famous, and a wealth of places to eat and shop for local products. However the atmosphere is not very exciting and after a few days I was bored.
