Local from Providencia

Santiago Park Plaza is a traditional hotel, but a very good one. Its staff is really helpful, friendly and young. As I said, the place is very traditional, so the décor is very old-fashioned and classic, which is something I don’t particularly enjoy but of course there are thousands of people who do! What I like the best was the heated pool in the last floor. I just wanted to start swimming and relaxing as soon as I saw it. It offers an amazing view of the city and the mountains. The location is perfect: it is only a few blocks away from Providencia’s main avenue, which is filled with shops, bars and restaurants. However, the street where it’s located is very residential and quiet.

Buenos Aires

The staff in this hotel were lovely. They were very helpful and very honest about the hotel, its services and what would be best for my stay. They offered me the option of staying in one of their apartments across the street, as they said that it was cheaper and would accommodate my particular needs more. I liked the honesty of their attention and advice. The heated pool on the terrace was just amazing. It offers a view of the entire city and the Andean mountain ranges too. There were plenty of places to sit around the edge of the pool and I liked that it was open until 10pm. One thing I would not recommend would be the breakfast. They only serve bread and jam and tea and coffee. It’s not like the buffet breakfast that one would expect from a hotel of its stature.

Local from Santiago

From the soaring classical music and friendly, costumed porter that greeted us in the lobby to the well-stocked hardwood bar, this place had the air of a classy, if a little stuffy, European hotel. It seems to attract an older clientele – a lot of gringos and Europeans, as well as vacationing Brazilians. I think it's worth the price, if for nothing else than the beautiful glassed-in rooftop pool with a view of San Cristobal, northern Providencia and the Andes. It's in a great location, its rooms are comfortable and clean, and it has a lot of nice touches: a stereo system in the room, lovely fresh flowers in the lobby, a small gym, and my favorite – a shoe-shine machine in the hall if you have any scuffs.

Puerto Varas

This classic is in the heart of the lively Providencia district, where you can always find something to do, and can easily reach the metro, restaurants, boutiques and Forestal Park. The lobby has the feel of an English gentlemen's club style, and it's one of the few hotels of this size with a check-in desk where you actually do the checking on proper cozy chairs. The hotel has a small gym located downstairs, and a heated pool on the top floor, which overlooks Eastern Santiago and the Andes. It's hot during the summer but must be lovely in the winter. Rooms are lively – elegant but never boring.

Local from Santiago

The elegant entry statues and fully costumed concierge set the tone for our adventure at the Santiago Park Plaza hotel. It is a classic style hotel with a decor that is more reminiscent of the ritzy hotels from a time long gone but still a feel of modernness with big screen TVs in the bedrooms and WIFI throughout. The principal staff members all speak enough English to help you with anything you may need. The beautiful dining room, bar, and bedroom all met my standard of comfortable. The enclosed rooftop pool was spectacular but with no access to direct sun left me wanting. I think with longer stays the gym and free parking are great amenities plus discounted longer stays may make this hotel a perfect match for my budget. Even though this is a great hotel with great amenities its price can still be a little shocking compared to other local hotels in the area. However, you pay for what you get and with the Santiago Park Plaza it is worth it.
