What can I say? I went there twice and nobody was there to show me around or even to answer my enquiries. I asked around and some neighbors say that the owners or the staff that works at the apart hotel don’t have a steady schedule. I went on a Friday afternoon and on a Saturday morning and nobody answered. They lost a potential guest here. Don’t get me wrong though, the place looks beautiful from outside and the area is great. The Lastarria neighborhood is famous for its bohemian feel, its amazing bars, pubs, restaurants and clothing stores. However, the street where this hotel is located gets really dark at night so I wouldn’t go out at night by myself.

I liked the service. The receptionist was very helpful and full of energy. I also liked the idea of being close to lots of coffee shops in the Lastarrias neighborhood, independent cinemas and the GAM cultural centre, which is one of the most innovative in Santiago. However, there wasn’t really very much else to appreciate. There’s no space in the apartments to offer breakfast. You have to go across the street to a small coffee shop which the apartments has an agreement with to eat at a discount price. I prefer staying in places which have more going on onsite and which have more in-house facilities — for example, there’s no pool, no communal lounge and no computer room. Each apartment does have its own bathroom and kitchen, but it’s not the place to stay in if, like me, you enjoy meeting people on your travels.

The staff were lovely. They were very bubbly and full of helpful touristy information that they were happy to share. I liked the surrounding area — a neighbourhood called Lastarrias — which is full of coffee shops, independent cinemas, and intimate bars. However, I didn’t like the fact that they didn’t have anywhere to sit and eat breakfast. I love being able to eat breakfast without having to leave where I’m staying. At these apartments, you have to go across the street to a coffee shop and eat your breakfast there. Also… the breakfast was just toast and coffee or a cake, etc. There were no eggs, no juice, nothing which I could eat, with my wheat allergy, and so that wasn’t great either.

The outside of the building is so nondescript that it would be easy to pass by, if you're not looking out for the plaque that humbly announces the hotel's presence. But the humbleness ends there. Inside are comfortable, modern, stylish, sizable apartments. And central - they sit over the main drag of what in my mind may be the coolest neighborhood in town. Though this is called a hotel, it really isn't - at least not in the common usage of the word: there is no room service or pool or lobby. But there is a daily room cleaning and a helpful staff to guide you through your stay in the city, and you can rent the space for a night, a week, a month or a year (prices go down the longer you stay). If what you want is the feeling of living in Santiago – and living in one of its safest and most bohemian neighborhoods – this is an excellent choice.

This hotel is more of a modern apartment building with full functioning kitchens than a hotel but nonetheless it still provides much of the same services as a hotel to include daily room service. This can be a great stay for one night but it is ideal for longer stays such as week long conferences or if you are studying abroad for a semester. The prices fluctuate according to how long your stay is and if you are a student or not. These apartments are wonderful with the added benefit of being in "el estarria" neighborhood. When ever I am close by I love to come and spend an afternoon or evening here enjoying the European style neighborhood with no less than 20 amazing restaurants. Also the Santa Lucia Cerro (hill) is a stone throw away and it is a great spot to spend a whole Sunday walking, eating, or sleeping with some of the best people watching in all of Santiago.
