Stayed here a few years back and the room had no hot water. The front desk team were completely unapologetic, so I checked out and moved to the Hyatt.

This hotel is very nice and classy, without being over the top. Its decoration is timeless and elegant. However, if you are looking to save some money, avoid it as it is one of Santiago’s most expensive hotels. Also, it it located in Las Condes, an area which is expensive overall. However, the hotel itself is beautiful, traditional and simple. I suggest saying here on a business trip also as it is close to some of Santiago’s biggest companies and to a lot of offices. If you are able to splurge, get a luxury room, as they are big and come with complimentary Chilean wine! I also appreciated the friendliness and warmness of the staff. Another plus is the vertical garden both outside and inside. It is a very beautiful green touch in the middle of all the grey.

This hotel has two parts – the 13-year-old original part of the hotel, and the newer “green” part of the hotel that's been open just a year. The new part has a living-wall on the outside in an attempt to be environmentally conscious. The rooms, at least in the new side, look and smell clean, and have some nice touches, like a fresh-cut rose in the bathroom. The interior design is crisp, metallic, modern. The pool is large, but even though it has with large bay windows overlooking the city, it's sort of dark. The gym is huge and modern. There's a beautiful sitting area in the older part's lobby, with a marble-wall fountain – I could have sat there with a cup of coffee and a journal and written for hours. There's three or four restaurants in the hotel itself, and lots more in the tony neighborhood around it. A short walk to the metro.

I arrived just as a great activity of tourists and business people had just walked in, but nevertheless
the less the reception staff was gracious and efficient. The hotel, conveniently located in the heart of Santiago's financial district, retains a classic style, but its amenities fall somewhat short for passengers accustomed to staying in Intercontinental hotels. For example, there is no spa, though it has a well-placed pool on the 18th floor overlooking the hills and mountains and part of Vitacura Avenue. The rooms are simple but accommodating.

The InterContinental Santiago has a new addition, the executive suites attached to the west side of the building and has a living vertical exterior covering the whole front (North side) of the building. If you want a swank corporate experience than look no further, this hotel is amazing. The rooms are sublime, there is nothing left for want. They left no detail untouched. The added fragrant rose in the bathroom was a great touch for covering any lingering cleaner smells. Executives get a card that doesn't stop with opening special doors to special places that you want to be. The only downside is which restaurant you will choose, the sushi or the Italian, if you are on a short stay. You really got to see this place.
