Small urban zoo with not too many animals on display. Lot of the enclosures are closed for maintenance. Come if you want to see a variety of monkeys.

A small zoo in comparison to San Diego Zoo. A good place to take the little ones but not a lot of new renovations in the zoo since it's small and near a freeway. I feel bad for the animals since they must get a lot of car noise in the area.

It's a nice little zoo for families with small children. But it needs more animals to make it a better place.

It was a great place to check out on a Friday afternoon. I enjoyed the monkeys very much, as well as the anteaters. I wish they had more wild cats, but besides that it was a fun day for the family.

Santa Ana Zoo is a great place for the kids especially if you have small ones since there's not a lot of walking. The zoo itself doesn't have too many animals; mostly monkeys and birds. You can easily finish walking around in 1-2 hours. Admission is $10 and parking is free.

Fun zoo at a great value. Free parking and only ten bucks for adults. Reminds me a lot of the Santa Barbara zoo. Small but entertaining and great for kids. Also a good place to throw a kids party.

A relaxing place to take the family, oh it's a zoo.
Okay, it's not a typical zoo as anyone would describe a zoo. The biggest "zoo" animal they have is a camel. Next would be the cow, but that's a farm animal lol. But, I still liked this zoo!?!

Father & son day again (wifey sleeping). If I haven't mentioned it. I love F&S days!!

We just went to the OC zoo a couple of weeks ago and planned on visiting this zoo today. My son was excited.

Coincidentally, YF Mar-Vy S posted a review for Santa Ana Zoo the same day. Score. I got the inside scoop and high lights before I set foot into the place.

High lights from our trip:
Parrot Show: if you get a chance, watch it. Very entertaining. Both of us specially like it when the trainer asked the parrot what a bat sounds like (up to this point the parrot was making various animal sounds, very good too) but what does a bat sound. The parrot then started to sing the "batman" theme song lmao!!

Giant Ant Eater: it's big. It had its own enclosure. Never seen one in person.

Camel: yes of course, it is the biggest thing here. Lol.

Train ride: $3 per person, short ride. Still worth it. We did this first to get the lay of the land and plot where we wanted to go.

Rain Forrest Exhibit: Waterfalls and greenery. They had a couple of benches were we rested and it was very relaxing there. It did feel a little like a rain forrest.

Play Area: my son's favorite. Two sections, one for 2-5 years old and another of bigger kids. Of course my son goes to the big kids one (he's 3 in a couple of weeks). He loved it!!

Main parking lot was full and we had to go to the overflow parking.

Tip: SA Zoo is a good place to celebrate a kids birthday. They have several pavilions for that occasion. May I suggest the one by the waterfall.

Amenities:
Snack shop - they sell burgers, hot dogs and a lot of kids meals. Good selection of food too. Reasonably priced.

Gift Shop - typical gift shop, over priced.

Note: a lot of walking, bring a comfortable walking shoe.

Price: adults $10, kids (3-12) $7 and Senior (60+) $7
They offer a family yearly pass for $70
Parking is Free.

I truly enjoyed this zoo. My son did too.
It's better than OC Zoo and not as crowded as LA Zoo.

I'll definitely be back.

You can't compare this Zoo with something like the World Famous San Diego Zoo or even the LA Zoo, but for $2 it's a great spot for all the little ones to enjoy their furry friends (or for a couple to go on a date).

This cozy and intimate habitat is home to a wide array of small critters such as possums, beavers, and racoons as well as larger animals like the mountain lions and vultures. Additionally they have a good variety of birds including but not limited to various owls and larger birds of prey (ie. bald eagle, vultures). I really enjoyed my trip here and remember to check-in with yelp so that your tickets are B1G1 Free!

This is a great little zoo. Wonderful for very little children. I think every elementary school in the area takes the kids one a field trip to this zoo. It is very small, and older kids will probably not like it. But if you have little ones it's a nice place to go for a couple hours.
