Yeah I'm on a battleship. I love having a tour and I'm glad that I finally got to visit the USS IOWA. The last time I was in Hawaii I could not visit the memorial at Pearl Harbor for the USS Arizona because it collapsed and it was sad news. I have been on aircraft carriers my favorite but never a battleship until now. So full speed ahead. A7 HIT!

I had a blast trying endless drinks and food. What better way to have a pre Memorial Day celebration. The drinks were poured very quickly who needs to go to a bar. The weather was perfect not hot or Smokey something I will rather say when in LA. San Pedro is nice and battleship was located in the same area where I took my princess cruise to Mexico last year. Princess is the name of the cruise line so don't get it twisted. FINGER SNAP.

A reminder of our military history, the Iowa, sister ship to the Missouri was present in Tokyo bay for the signing of the final peace treaty ending WWII. Rich in history, the tour is worth the experience.

I love this battleship. It is so big and I love being able to walk around and check out the great things it has to offer. It is a great history lesson!

As Navy Vet my self who serve in the Nuclear Aircraft Carrier, visit this museum in a veteran day, remind me bit of the Navy in a good way. Is very nice that the several organization volunteer their time and resource for the event. Something they were respect you for your service.

As for the ship, is living to my expectation. Main issue many area is not open for public yet. The price isn't justify, so if you are vet, you better go there like memorial or veteran day weekend when admission probably is free and usually family and friend too. Line might a bit long is only issue, the line in that day is a bit too long. The area they mostly focus is the nice area like the bridge, officer lounge, living quarter and the president room. Only enlist area they show was the galley in the end.

They charge $15 per picture or $20 for both, is not bad picture but the could had better frame. I might visit USS midway and see than different, that ship would probably gave me more memory than this one would. This ship is like a half court compare to carrier full court. If you vet go there in memorial or veteran when you can bring yo family and friend for free, just arrive there early there would be parade and free stuff too.

They have done a great job restoring the USS Iowa. My daughter and I have visited in both Richmond and Los Angeles. She was five years old and enjoyed it very much although she needed some help getting around the ship.

Glad to help enjoy some fun in the sun while donating to USS Iowa.

Parking: Free pro tip: They are some free parking spot across the street.
Only downside, you have to walk a bit. Upside, you didn't have to wait in line to exit the parking lot.

Entrance.: The entrance to the lower level food vendors/etc was near the port a potty The entrance to the drinks were up the ramp. The checkin line was near the entrance for the tour.

Food: Tons of vendors from chicken to yogurt.

This was my first time visiting the USS Iowa.
I was able to take the tour after the 2pm cutoff. I think having volunteers that experienced the war and actually served during that time added to the experience.
History from his story. :)

Awesome place for history buffs to relive the past and learn the mechanics of a wartime ship. Very helpful volunteers. Some are retired veterans. In need of renovation.

Nice tour, though I would of liked to have seen how the sailors spent the day when they weren't playing with the turrets and missiles. Kind of steep I thought for 18 bucks since we were done in maybe half an hour to an hour. Though it is a good element of history and this will probably the only chance I would ever get to be on a battleship. Alot of good information about its history and world war II. There's also at the end one really cool 5 minute short 3D experience with USS Iowa in battle.

I did see a basketball court on the battleship and I was tempted to shoot a jumper, but unfortunately it was roped off.
