Unlike the Japantown in San Jose, you can see much Japanese influence here. It is reflected in the stores, restaurants and even hotels here. There is a huge Daiso Japan store here that I always find something to buy there. Events are held here throughout the year.

Really cool place. My boyfriend and I went to a restaurant and the food was great! The layout is pretty straightforward too which counts for more than you’d think when you want to see everything.

Excellent places to eat & see Japanese culture. Japantown is also located @ Fillmore st. which one can walk the streets & do some shopping or grab a variety of food or just sit & have some great coffee!

Extremely small but true to its roots and purpose. You want a slice of Japan in the bay? Look now further.

While there are a few good restaurants here, there really is not much to see in SFs Japan town.

Best place for Anime and all kinds of creative Japanese food. Large mall with various types of shops including a pop culture store with all of your Godzilla action figure and t shirt needs! SF Japantown Peace Plaza is one of the only Japantowns left in the U.S. San Francisco's sister city is named to be Osaka, Japan.

The mall is a bit depressing when you consider the history of displacement and neighborhood eradication that the Japantown Mall calls home, but spend some time there, poking around, sampling the many businesses and such, and there's a warmth that grows on you as a casual observer. Not as flashy or as well trafficked as some of the other tourist destinations in the City, but one of my favorite spots for good food and random gifts.

I enjoyed reading Eric Brink's history of Japantown because I really had not heard about it before. It is a fun place to go and grab something different for lunch and then wander around all of the little shops in the mall. Who knows what you will find?

Japantown doesn't really have all that much. There are some nice restaurants and shops here yet it doesn't have much of a unique cultural feel to it in my opinion.

Gotta hit up jtown for the cherry blossom festival! Gorgeous and illuminated so well! Also make sure you go around and visit the shops! Especially Sophie's crepes!

Not quite Tokyo's Shibuya or Shinjuku but you can find some decent Japanese food here. My favorite time to visit Japantown is during Cherry Blossom Festival in April.

Japantown is a culturally unique spot in San Francisco. There's a community here with the community center as well as the cultural restaurants, and more. It's a bit far from the rest of SF but well worth the drive.

Loved how clean the area is. LOTS of fun shops for Anime and other Japanese goods. Sweet people everywhere. What a great experience to have in SF.

I might have gone on an off day, but it's out of the way and no where near as hopping as Chinatown. Felt a little abandoned. Worth looking into if you take the California Cable line to the end though.

Japantown is calming, open, and clean, compared to the hustle and bustle of Chinatown. While there's lots of azn stores and restaurants in the Japan center mall, they all offer the same things. Most of the restaurants all serve noodles, combo dishes, sushi, okonomiyaki (yum), and teppanyaki kind of food. There's also some Korean restaurants, and cute little cafes. There's also a little mochi souvenir store that we saw inside Japan center, which looked bomb diggiittyyy. They also have an azn photobooth store, Daiso, a bookstore, stationary stores, crepe place, and more. Japantown was definitely one of the highlights of San Francisco!
