Description
In the heart of Japantown or Nihonmachi, you will find the Japan Center consisting of the Kintetsu mall, Miyako Mall and Kinokuniya Building. You can catch a glimpse of a special art piece by Yoshiro ... Read more
Taniguchi (a famous Japanese architect) in the form of a 100 feet tall Peace Pagoda located on the Peace Plaza. The malls feature an array of Japanese goods that cater to both locals and tourists as well as serve some of the best reputed sushi around. Here you will also find the only full Japanese bookstore in San Francisco with mostly Japanese titles and few in English. The stores at the Japan Center are fashioned to provide the atmospheric appearance of an old Japanese village while providing a social environment many can enjoy.

This is actually not the location of the Japan Center (1737 Post St)

I love coming here to shop. I especially love going to the Daiso Japan store here as it is huge! With so much items for only $1.50 each...wow!!! Someday I hope to eat at some of the restaurants here.

I love hanging around Japan Center. There's a parking garage that isn't too expensive. You could easily spend a half day around Japantown. There are a bunch of restaurants, book stores, and gift shops in Japan Center.

Japan center doesn't really have all that much. There are some nice restaurants and shops here yet it doesn't have much of a unique cultural feel to it in my opinion.

Lots of fun and plenty of things to see. It's not the most fantastic mall, but Japan Center still retains its charm. Restaurants serve noodles, sushi, bento boxes and more, and Kinokuniya Bookshop sells anything in print you could possibly want. There are a few nightclubs and bars, and a lots of cute eateries.

I feel like the only thing worth eating here is a crepe from Belly Good. Aside form that, my favorite places to browse are Daiso, Kinokuniya books, and the very small florist. There is a Nijiya Japanese supermarket just outside that has really inexpensive food to-go in its deli section.
