Typical Korean bar food and drinks.. a good place to chill with a group of people. They also have karaoke.

Ambiance: Fun!
Dark with blue lighting and a big TV screen to watch kpop videos. Downstairs dining area and upstairs for karaoke.

Food: Tasty!
The cheesy corn concoction is indeed amazing! Wish I could find some as good as this in LA or that I knew how to make it myself!

Insanely fun Karaoke bar! Never be afraid to belt out how you really feel; the private rooms make for a fun experience with friends. The food and drinks are great, the song list is huge and the service is great.

Karaoke time! The rooms are less spacious and the song selection is less current that some other karaoke places, but bring on the soju and good friends, and that ceases to matter. There are a bunch of eateries up and down the street, so it's convenient to have dinner elsewhere and stumble over to Playground. A couple of blocks down, and you cross over from Japantown to the Fillmore, where there's a wider variety of locales.

The jigaes (stews) are mediocre, the jja-jjang noodles (black bean sauce) were a weird smoky taste, the tofu kimchi (tofu with a fried kimchi and pork) was okay, the nakji bokum (fried squid in red bean paste and noodles) was weak, and the pajun (korean pancakes) was mediocre. The kalbi (korean shortribs) was good, but how bad can you really make kalbi? I'll stop here.

Playground is more for a place if you want to hangout with your friends and eat bar food. Not a place to satisfy your palate for Korean food.

Playground is a fun Korean drinking establishment. It is not a bar nor a pub. It is a drinking place with lots of tables and some private karaoke rooms. People gather here to hang out, drink their flavored yogurt soju while playing various drinking games. The main room usually have a pretty rowdy and happy crowd.

Clientele is prominently Korean as you would have guessed. That means lot of cute and well dressed Asian girls and guys.

The food here was surprisingly good. (And no, I wasn't completely drunk. Was I?) The seafood pancake was so very crispy. They have cheese corn, spicy rice cakes and many other cooked dishes that are perfect pairing for alcohol.

The karaoke room equipment is really primitive. It was fun nonetheless.

Playground ("Norituh") is a trendy bar with Korean bar foods plus the option of karaoke in a private room. I love yogurt soju, which is Korean soju (vodka) blended with a sweet and sour yogurt drink. Playground is also known among regulars for its ja jang myun (mandarin noodles). It has a youthful vibe with flatscreens blaring the latest K-pop music videos.

I love Playground. It's a really casual, fun environment that offers Karaoke on the second level, or just lounging/eating on the first level.

They have typical Korean late-night foods on the menu (cheesy corn, kimchi fried rice, etc.) as well as all the Korean drinks you can think of - varieties of soju, beers (Hite), etc.

They usually have Korean music videos playing on the screen. On the first level, they have a small bar that's by the kitchen, that faces the dining area outward.

Awesome, fun spot located in Japan town - great to come with friends!

I was told to keep this place a secret.... under korean abated breath, pledging an oath, forfeiting life and limb if ever I break word.

But I see some people already have brought forth to light the hidden k-gem known as the Playground. Of course you first need to be escorted by a cadre of koreans to allow your pagan ass in, but it is worthwhile to make friends to get into here. Actually, I'd kill to get back into here. And considering how drunk were when we got there.... well, I already may have.

Nothing like bootie jigay (i know, I butchered, but that's apart of my charm), soju (according to my korean guide is courtesy of the devils left teat), the cheese corn, and some crispy shrimp thing. I could have just spent all night there partaking of all they had to offer. Actually i don't know why i left so early as i did. Since i wasn't driving in my intoxicated state i suppose i have no right to complain. Did I mention that the females that frequent the place are just as delicious? Well, I think they aren't so don't go there and cramp my style or slow down my roll.

playground...
i don't remember what i ate
i don't remember what i drank
ok, I remember what i drank
damn soju

thank you for yet another unforgettable forgettable night
;D
