For $145 per person, you will be having at least 10 courses plus dessert. The restaurant said serving French food, but they were leaning toward Japanese fusion more. About 85% of our dishes was Japanese influence. I was a little bummed when the owner told me. I came here for the French food, not Japanese. Maybe you should update on your website?!?!

Even though I was deceived, the food was excellent. The dessert was even better! Be prepared to sit for at least 3 hours for dinner.

P.s. Parking can be tricky at this residential area. Be sure to give yourself enough time upon arrival. Cheers!

Keiko a Nob Hill is only a a couple of years old, but already has earned a Michelin Star. It is run by a Japanese couple, Keiko in the kitchen, and Seigo in the front room managing the hospitality.

It is located in a high rise condominium just off the top of Nob Hill, near Grace Cathedral, on Jones. My sweet friend picked this place as an early birthday treat for me, since I had never been here, but they had many times. But it was also a late birthday for them, since we went here about halfway in between our 2 birth dates, in December.

Not until I looked up the address and saw the building, did I realize that I have been to the 18th floor Penthouse here a couple of times, as my sister's very good friends own the top 2 floors, and I had the privilege to join them on a couple of dinner parties there a couple of years ago, just before Keiko opened. It has a breath taking view up there. Parking is challenging, but there is always the Garage across from Grace Cathedral. But it will cost you $30 and a 2 block walk uphill.

The restaurant only has 1 service, so you can come at opening and leisurely dine for the rest of the evening without feeling any rush of people waiting to take your table. Their is a small bar on the right, and so I had a sparkling wine special offering for the day while awaiting for my dining partner (who likes cheap parking, but Michelin food.)

There is a main dining room, which is curtained and quietly elegant, reserved in neutral tones and decor, but a classy, elegant and cozy old world feel. We had a nice corner table with comfy bench seating.

They always ask about any food allergies to be aware of, and when I mentioned this is a birthday meal, they were kind to bring out a special chocolate enscripted plate of birthday dessert, with single candle melted on the rim. Actually, they brought out two, one for each of us. Nice!

They offer a tasting menu for just under $100 a person, and with wine pairings extra (about $65), and offer optional supplements like real Wagyu beef and Piemonte Truffles. Caution that the supplement may be up to $60, and the amount is not the size of the steak they show you.

We went with the set menu but passed on the pairings, selecting our own wines by the glass. (See photos for dishes.) The menu in December has more of a Japanese lean to the dishes than normal, which has a French balance to it normally. Being Half Japanese, that suited me well.

All the dishes were superb, the presentations were very creative and elegant, and the service was terrific. It was a leisurely, intimate dining experience that I won't soon forget, and look forward to returning too soon. I really loved this place!

Perhaps next time I can enjoy it with the friends who own the Penthouse.

Amazing flavors. Beautiful presentation. Consistent service. Delicious wines. The basic ABCD of a wonderful dining experience are all achieved. In addition to the set meal in the dining room, an ala carte menu is available at the bar. The wine list is impressive and the prices is easily palettable. Thank you Seigo san and your wonderful staff for your hospitality.
