as free standing stores in the area. The room was smaller, which is typical in the downtown/Union Square area, but I thought it was still nice and bright (which is important as some buildings are so close down here that they block light to other buildings). The hotel has a tiny fitness center, but there’s so much to do within walking distance (keyword: walk!) that you can get your workout that way. It’s an easy walk to the Ferry Building for GREAT food (especially during the Saturday Farmers’ Market) but downstairs in the Pickwick is the Soma restaurant, open for all meals. The Pickwick is clean, has amenities such as a safe and elevator, and a welcoming staff. The only strange thing I saw was a super small toilet, but I’m not sure that all rooms have the same issue.

Local from San Francisco

The Pickwick offers a basic stay in a great location. It is only steps from the busy Market Street, and within walking distance of everything that downtown San Francisco has to offer (Union Square, Chinatown, The Ferry Building, shopping, museums, and more.)

This hotel is huge and it offers basic amenities like free wi-fi, a gym, a business center and a mini-fridge in some rooms. There is a lively restaurant downstairs, so you don't have to walk far for a good meal.

The rooms at the Pickwick are small, but they are all you need for a good night of sleep. Make sure you ask for a room in the interior or the building, this will secure you a quiet space in busy downtown. On top of its great location, the hotel offers all day parking for an extra fee.

Menlo Park

This hotel, built in 1926, exudes an old-fashioned neo-Gothic vibe. Its location between Westfield Mall and the Moscone Center make it a prime location for business travelers and conference attendees, but also visitors seeking to be close to the hubbub of downtown San Francisco. One unique aspect of this hotel is its three in-house restaurants: SOMA, which offers Italian and Mediterranean fare, Cafe Venue, which provides complimentary breakfast for two guests before 11, and Sushi Club, offering sushi and other Japanese cuisine. Nobody was able to answer my question as to the hotel's name, but I like to think it relates to Charles Dickens' Pickwick Papers. Like all of the various charming inns that Mr. Pickwick used before embarking on his various peregrinations, so visitors to the Pickwick hotel will likely be pleased with the accommodations and its location as a great home base for more adventures.

I got a last minute special deal for New Years eve and I just LOVED staying here. The rooms are really cozy and full of the best amenities - Keurig coffee and all.
