Good hotel for business travel next to financial district of SF. Most rooms have balconies with a killer view of the Bay and ferry building. If you must be in the financial district, this is a great option.

This is a beautiful hotel with cool architecture. During the holidays, there's an ice skating rink right outside and a massive Christmas tree in the lobby. It's also just across the street from the Ferry Building and right next to BART; it's in a great location.

Shower curtains? For a swanky hotel? I dunno about that......

What's the main thing the Hyatt Regency has going for it? Location, location, location. Just a stroll away from the Ferry Marketplace, and near Chinatown, North Beach, Fisherman's Wharf & other tourist spots, the Hyatt Regency was my hotel during my business trip in San Francisco. Let's get into my observations during the trip-

Room 1450 was what I called home for 4 days. I requested a single King size bed, but since I arrived at the hotel a few hours early, the only option available was a 2 double bed room. I was given the choice of an upgrade to a bay view room for $50, which I declined. Inside the room, there were a mini-fridge, a single serve coffeemaker with complimentary Starbucks ground coffee & Numi organic teabags. Toiletries were products by KenetMD. Besides the aforementioned shower curtains, the shower itself was the type where you have to turn the knob counterclockwise for hot water. Personally, I'd rather have a separate hot & cold shower knob, simplifying things. Because, seriously, who wants cold water to hit them when they're expecting hot?

I had a view of Drumm Street from my room's window. I took advantage of the complimentary amenities, calling the desk for more Starbucks coffee, tea & toiletries. To drink and to take home ;p

By the elevator, there was a 7 times filtered water dispenser, with alkalizing agents, coconut fiber filters etc. The water, indeed, was delicious & crisp. The ice dispenser, unfortunately, was located all the way furthest from my room, tucked away in a corner. The layout of the building is an isosceles triangle, with the ice dispenser at the end of the longest point. Having the water dispenser & mini-fridge, I saw no need to gather ice more than once.

A 24 hour gym is located by the lobby. I took a peek and saw older machines & no newer equipment. Complimentary computer & print services are on the left of the desk, which I used to print my JetBlue boarding pass the night before my flight back home. The Wall Street Journal & San Francisco Chronicle are on hand for guest's reading pleasure.

The wifi was blazing fast in my room & lobby. My stay included the breakfast buffet at the Eclipse Kitchen & Bar, which I made sure to avail myself of. Maybe a little too much....

I'm glad I had limo/shuttle service on all 4 days, as parking is around $70/day. Ouch! The hotel is a major hub for BART, cable cars etc. Save a lot more money getting around that way.

Elevators have an old school appearance & are super fast! Express checkout is by calling the automated system and leaving your name & room number.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Hyatt Regency. Having fancier digs in Vegas, I was expecting a little more. Glass shower enclosures, modern gym equipment etc. The location, however, can't be beat. I made the most of the complimentary amenities I was given, and I had a comfy stay as a whole. The Hyatt's pricey, but I think it's worth it.

The Hyatt is a famous John Portman designed hotel with an amazingly high atrium. Ordinary from the outside.

Great location for all types of public transportation. Close to BART, California cable car, bus stops, trolley lines. Rooms are luxurious and large. Its moderately priced unless a big convention is town. Concierge is very knowledgeable. Walking distance to the Ferry Building at the beginning of Market Street. Fantastic amenities.

This is a review of the main space: This Hyatt is HUGE. In the main atrium area there is a big light sculpture hanging down from the ceiling. Check that out. Hotel as a whole is very convenient, being a block from the Ferry Building and in the financial district.

The soaring 10+-story open lobby makes this hotel out-of-the-ordinary for so many reasons, especially during the Christmas season. During that time, "snow" falls from the top of the atrium several times a day. Guests will find accommodations from modest to grand, and the location--right on the BART and major bus lines--couldn't be better. Chinatown is a 15-minute walk, as are San Francisco's premier shopping areas, including Union Square. The Ferry building, with shops, week-end farmer's market, and access to the entire bay area via ferries is right across the street.

I absolutely love staying in this hotel. It's convenient to many great restaurants and bars in the Financial District, as well as the Embarcadero and the Stadium. The main lobby is beautiful, but can be a little dizzying if you have a room overlooking it by too many stories up. Not a great place if you're afraid of heights, but otherwise a very nice, semi-luxurious place to stay. There are also excellent conference facilities here - which is why I have stayed - so do consider this as a potential place to host any kind of large event or meeting.

This was in 1980, the last stop on my first ever coast-co-coast tour of the US. Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan were slugging it out for the White House (hmm, how did that turn out?). The San Francisco Hyatt (which I chose because I'd seen it in Mel Brooks's movie HIGH ANXIETY) was the most luxurious hotel I'd ever stayed in. That atrium! The quality of the rooms, the restaurants, the service. It was still looking pretty good when I visited it again 25 years later. Rock on!

Very nice hotel, restaurant, and conference rooms, but the bathrooms in the rooms are dated. Shower is small and water pressure isn't great. Not the greatest views, but if you ask for a bay view on a high floor it will have nice views

Love the holiday spirit of the Hyatt. They put on a great holiday show with carolere, dance performances, and their beautiful lights throughout the hotel ceiling. Makes the guest feel cozy and happy with holiday glee.

The hall of this hotel is absolutely fantastic, so wide and high. On one side there is a corridor, connecting the rooms, directly looking at the hall, with gorgeous plants growing and enriching the environment. It is a very silent place and a very elegant hotel.

The view from the lobby is amazing look up the the rooms. Go up to the top revolving restaurant called "Equinox" and you can see the 360 view of SF downtown (not sure its opened now, check first).

I love this location! I always stay in Union square and never thought to come over to the quieter, cleaner Embarcadero side of SF. Fell in love with the "blade runner" like architecture of this building. The interior is huge and so futuristic.

Our room was also a highlight. We had a standard double bed set up AND we actually had a sliding glass door that opened! I could see my car parked below!

Next time I am in town for a staycation, this will be my go-to Hotel!

My girlfriends and I had a staycation in SF and Priceline booked this 4-star hotel for us. We totally scored! I'd previously been here for a company holiday party and really enjoyed the beautiful atrium architecture of the hotel. The convenient location (right at the Embarcadero BART/Muni station and a short walk from The Embarcadero and AT&T Park), friendly service, modern amenities, and low price made it an ideal hotel for our short stay.

We were checked in by Tsering, who was super accommodating and a gracious host. Our double room was on a high floor with a great view of the city. The host at Eclipse, the hotel bar/restaurant, was also all smiles when we stopped in for their daily happy hour that goes until 7:30pm. We enjoyed $5 well drinks and house wines and a $4 hummus and pita plate.

Valet parking is a whopping $57, so you might want to park inside the Embarcadero Center parking garage instead for $35/day or if you happen to be arriving after 6pm on a Saturday like we had, you can park on the street and leave it there as the meters are free after 6pm on Saturday and all day on Sunday.

Will definitely stay here again the next time we want to overnight it in the city!

We held a mini BLUE on Tour festival here during the California and the World Ocean Conference 2010. The event space and technical help was fantastic. We would love to come back here and show more films! The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful - a perfect oasis from the city street below.
