San Diego's oldest and best dive bar in Downtown San Diego. Amazing burgers, tied to Rocky's in PB for best beach dive and burger.

Finally went there last year. Great food always packed. Little hard to find unless you know the area.

Dive bar with a lot of history. It's a little small around the bar, but there is space in the back. It does get crowded, but trust me, it can be a lot of fun after you've been drinking! Good drinks, priced moderately, but again.. it's a casual bar, no need for ultra high standards! Located in north Little Italy, close to the airport, it's a nice place to relax after work, but definitely difficult for a quality first date if it's crowded.

The oldest liquor license in San Diego this local place is still standing even though the buildings around it tried to buy it. The local politicians even stood up for the owner to keep it running! A small sawdust-on-the-floor kind of place with good food and a good casual vibe not far from the water.

My favorite bar in San Diego. A great place to catch up with friends and have a beer, burgers are good as well.

I have to think that The Waterfront did at one time have a great spot near the water... just as when I walk by a spot called Bayview Whatnot and So and So, I try to imagine days gone when it did in fact offer a splendid view of the bay.

When I open my next bar, I will call it something like this. Something that offers the patrons a sense of being someplace a lot cooler than it is. A portal perhaps. Like how about a one story spot that smells of dust and broken dreams called The Penthouse. Or maybe Jack's on the 40th Floor. Or a blue collar spot called The President's Club. Or how about a spot on the 40th floor called The Submarine. Oh but that's too much like HOB's Foundation Room on the roof of the Mandalay Bay.

My brofriend flies in from SF and DJs here every 3rd Friday of the month, and I can see why. It's one of the most fun divey bars in Little Italy that attracts an eclectic crowd of all ages and styles. People are all here to have a fun time, and nothing beats good company.

The bartenders are super friendly and the vibe is totally chill. There's a great outdoor front patio and a back room with a pool table. You can also grab yourself a bowl of free tabasco flavored popcorn (so yummy).

Fun fact: this is SD's oldest bar, so it's a little rough around the edges, but has a ton of character.

Located in Little Italy, so a bit outside of the main downtown area, Waterfront is a fun bar if you are looking to drink some beers in a chill environment. It boasts as the oldest tavern in San Diego, and the artifacts on the wall can be a fun throw back before the crowds roll in, at which time it can get pretty squishy. The free popcorn with hot sauce and the wings are always our personal favorite munchy, and you won't find the "there to be seen" downtown crowd as you will at some other bars in the area. Suprisingly they have a pretty legit breakfast, although you can do better in San Diego. Go for a beer after dinner in Little Italy or maybe to watch a game, for sure worth a visit!
