San Diego’s Ocean Beach may not be the prettiest beach in the city, but it’s certainly one of the most fun. With a number of great shops, restaurants and cafes along nearby Newport Avenue, it’s as ... Read more

Great little beach town right outside San Diego. Lots of great spots for food and drink. Great Craft Brew scene. Great beach for swimming, surfing, boogie-boarding or just working your tan.

Great little beach town, hasn't lost its character. Laid back attitude, has something for everyone, and very walkable.

Growing up, I always heard that "O.B." was the lowlife neighborhood of San Diego. My aunt lives in Point Loma (close by), so we only went to OB to watch the fireworks at the concrete pier there. As I've gotten older, I find that it isn't as dangerous as I had thought, but it IS an eclectic, very unique beachfront community. They have a lot of vintage and antique shops, and very colorful locals. But they also boast the largest farmer's market in San Diego, as well as the best dog beach in the region. It's worth a visit just to observe this subculture.

Oceanside Beaches are some of the best in North San Diego County with plenty of parking, a great harbor with dining and gift shops. Just an hour or so from Palomar Mountain.

Quaint part of San Diego, small beach with a long pier to walk. A very dog friendly place to walk around. Also popular antique store shopping!

This is beach is nice. The walk is easy and there always seems to be great if not good waves to surf at all times of the day.

My favorite beach in SD! Dog Beach is close for a fun/cute walk (we saw a pet pig too). Be sure to get a spot close to the water though because tourist families never seem to know nothing of beach etiquette and will put up a tent right in front of you.

Similar vibe as Venice Beach. Laid back beach town with fun shops and bars within walking distance (Newport Ave.). We love to go to OB Noodle House and Pizza Port. Huge pier, which is great for fishing, and lots of room to lay out by the beach.

Newport Ave. and Bacon St. are great streets to walk along near Ocean Beach. There are a lot of vintage shops and restaurants. OB Fishing Pier is one of the longest concrete piers in the world and the longest pier on the west coast for fishing. Fishing is pretty decent if you follow the tides.

My favorite beach in San Diego. More of a spot for us locals but tourists you gotta check it out too. Good spots to eat, great bars, and less crowded than your traditional San Diego beaches.

This is the lesser popular beach in the beach areas, but that's how I like it. The tourist mostly go to Pacific Beach so parking is not as tough. A quite town with a lot of culture and history. Surfers, hippies, and a whole lotta love!
