Mission bay beach is located on a peninsula like island just 15 minutes away from Gas Lamp District. The beach looked great and it looks like this is a very popular volleyball beach. It felt like Santa Monica beach but really not that touristy.

The older, more refined brother of Mission Beach. Lots of families and vacation renters. Tons of people doing water sports.

Live two blocks away from it since 1959. Watch them put the park in. Used to be a friend of mine in a few other people on the Crownpoint side for many years. Now you can have a hard time parking down there.

Perfect place to soak in some sun and great views by the water. Or lots of people will rent a boat or SUPs and get out there. Mission Bay Boardwalk is fun to bike along and Mission Beach is nice and close. Definitely a good spot to bring friends and family-highly recommended. Lots to do in the area.

Down the peninsula the beach at Mission Bay is surprisingly not super crowded which was really nice. That may just be my perspective coming from New Jersey where the beaches are often packed and dirty.

Great place to bring the family for an outing by the water. It has grassy areas, and sand. There are palm trees here and there, but if you're the type to enjoy the outdoors but not the sun, a chair with umbrella or a pop-up canopy would be recommended. It can get windy too.

This is a nice beach for smaller children as the waves do not crash in on the beach the way they do on the pacific side. The location is very close to Sea World.

This is a local favorite beach, away from most crowd and tourist. Most of this beach is artificial but is general clean. Great for picnic!

Awesome beach location perfect for a picnic. There's plenty of grass and open field for sports. There's always a slight breeze for some kite flying. If you're looking to get away from the huge crowds that gather on the actual coast beaches then the Mission Bay Beach areas are great.

I love walking around and seeing the children playing on the playground. Plenty of grassy areas to have a picnic, family party, BBQ, play a game of volleyball, fly kites, whatever your heart desires. Plenty of parking, access to bathrooms, and lovely views. Kids will love this area. Also, great if you want to park your RV by the beach!

This place is always so calming. Riding the bikes with the family, having a picnic, kayaking the bay, you can't go wrong.

Nice little park by the water. It's much less crowded than the beaches and there are grassy areas to camp out on for those that don't like sand. There's still sand though for those that want to play in it.

Great place for joggers, cyclists, roller bladers, skateboarders and people who just want to relax and enjoy the water.

Stick around for sunset.

It's free!!

One of the most family-friendly among all of San Diego's beach towns, laidback Mission Beach has an oceanfront amusement park and a pearly stretch of sand that gets hugely crowded on summer weekends.

Home to water sports, barbecuers, picknickers, kite-fliers, and Sea World! There is actually an aquatic park that encompasses Mission Bay, and is the largest of its kind in the world. Play at the beach, visit the marine life at Sea World, or romp around the green fields with your family, kids, and dogs. Mission Bay is kind of the heart of San Diego's Saturday family day out.

Beautiful winding boardwalk along the bay for walking, biking, roller blading, or skateboarding. Clean white sand for sunbathing and plenty of places to rent water equipment (paddle boards, water bikes, etc. etc...)
