Hands down some of the best ramen around town. Extra spicy & an additional oxtail dumpling makes this spot hard to beat!

Delicious ramen! Customize your order, or choose from the pre-crafted options. I recommend the house namesake or anything with pork belly in it. The egg is a nice touch as well. Cold craft beer on tap too! Seating is limited and outdoors, so go on a nice day.

The best ramen (Japanese noodle dishes) in town, located on 30th Street only 9 blocks from our house. With plenty of outdoor seating.

This is a snug counter for hearty bowls of ramen & Japanese comfort grub in an industrial-chic setting. The ramen is bland make sure you spice it up and have a few drinks.

The ramen is delicious and like no other. They make the perfect soft-boiled egg for ramen. I have never been to a place yet that makes this just right. They also have local craft beer. Service is excellent. Also have more seats upstairs which you go to via a steel winding staircase. Very cool!

I live across the street and it's our number one go-to place! Yes, "Hipster Ramen"...open air or inside seating. Great little hidden corner of Little Italy for bowls of great noodles!

I didn't expect to like a place that's main dish is something I've only eaten during college because it was cheap and easy to make. But I was surprised at the quality of the ramen noodle based dishes they offer at Underbelly. I had the Belly of the Beast with short ribs and dumplings, it was delicious. Great place for a cool evening. My only complaint is that they took quite a while to seat us when there seemed to be plenty of open tables...not sure what the deal was.

Like other reviewers have said the ramen is pretty bland BUT if you add the condiment options it makes the Dish delish. Place has a roomy seating for a small place.
I would go back when the air is crisper (jan or feb)

Easily one of my favorite places to eat! If you don't know what to order, just start off with the Belly Of The Beast, and you'll be more than satisfied!

The atmosphere is is very open and fun. The place isn't very big, so don't be afraid to talk to fellow patrons, even if it's just asking to pass some of the great seasonings to enhance the flavor of your soup!

Underbelly needs to be at the top of your checklist of places to eat! Oh, and it's in Little Italy, so you'll have plenty of fun things to do in the area after your wonderful experience!

Unlike the cookie-cutter Italian restaurants that surround it on all sides, this ultra modern ramen shop, with black barstools and shiny metal interior design elements, stands out. The char-siu pork belly ramen bowl is a classic, but they've got other things on the menu, too, from vegetarian kim-chi ramen to smoked brisket steamed buns. Show up right when they open for lunch, or call ahead for a reservation.

This ramen place located in Little Italy at downtown. It is a cool little joint but now they are expanding, make sure to try there Belly of the Beast Ramen if you are a pork lover. They have a selection of beers too.

The only problem is that it's an extremely popular restaurant so expect to wait for a table/seat. Though I promise you, it is worth the wait.

Hipster ramen! The Underbelly bowl is almost overflowing with meat. My favorite was the chunk of pork belly. They don't give you spoons, even if you ask, so just be prepared to drink the broth out of the bowl. I think each bowl ranges from $9-$12, so it's not cheap, but again, it's hipster ramen in a cool part of SD.
