Like Morton's except for seafood. I love their food, and they have superb service. The oyster bar is great, and they have good happy hour specials.

I was definitely expecting more from a restaurant with all these raving reviews. After the amazing dining experience at Sushi Ota and Kous Kous, I couldn't help but feel underwhelmed by Oceanaire. Don't get me wrong, the quality of the seafood they serve here is really top notch. I am just not sure if I am a fan of style they were prepared.

Our dinner started with the Jumbo Lump Crabmeat Cocktail. I regretted not getting the crab cakes everyone raves about. The quality of the crab meat is really good but that is all I could say. The flavor of the crab meat is just too mellow unless you match it with a lot of sauce. Unfortunately the sourness of the cocktail sauce doesn't really bring out the best of the crab meat either. Almost felt like it was a good waste of the perfectly good crab meat.

Clam chowder was quite good. I like the texture which is not too thick nor too clammy.

The entree was a completely different story. We ordered the Black Alaska (cooked Flash Fried "Angry" style) and Blue Crab Crusted Fijian Opah "Moonfish" (cooked "Kid Dynamite" style). Both style were too overwhelming. The "Kid Dynamite" style reminds me so much of the western style sushi roll with the spicy mayo sauce and crab meat. It was a bit overkill for a tender and delicate fish. The angry style Black Alaska weren't much better. Both dishes were tasty but I couldn't help to think they were a perfect waste of some lovely good fish fillets. Had I know better I would just ask them to steam my fish with salt, pepper and ginger. Perhaps it was a fault of mine for not knowing what to get?

I guess what really disappointed me was the dessert. The Baked Alaska that a lot of people raved about was a really terrible finale to our dinner. It might look fancy in flames but it certainly lacked substance. A minted ice cream cake that's set on fire is what it is. The ice cream and the cake weren't even that great and the rum didn't compliment the taste at all. I honestly have no idea why people find this dessert appealing. I had trouble even finishing it.

I don't know if I could recommend this restaurant. Kudos to our Einstein looking server in lab coat though. Your enthusiastic service is much appreciated. (I guess I am just a sucker for the mad scientist look)

This place was a total disappointment! I was really excited to try this place, but walk away feeling very disappointed.

1. A single crab cake for $17.00 - taste a-ok, no real flavor, waiter brag about this is what they're known for, which is nothing special at all.

2. Clam chowder around $8.00 - taste like creme soup with no clams in it. Clam chowder suppose to have this fish taste, but there's no taste of that at all.

3. Cod with sweet potato hash, walnuts, and some kind of sauce $39.00 - a completely waste of money; sweet potato has is basically pieces of sweet potatoes cut into cubes and thrown on your plate. The fish itself has no flavor and was not seasoned at all. The sauce was basically balsamic and vinegar that tasted weird.

4. Opha fish with blue cheese crust $39 ~ $42 - taste way better WITHOUT the blue cheese topping; it was gross. The fish was overly cooked and has no seasoning.

5. Bake Alaska $6.00 - so much alcohol on top of the whip creme make the cake uneatable! It was so bitter with the amount of alcohol on it that I couldn't even eat 2 bites of it. But, it looks really cool ^^

Tip: Completely hype; for $$$, you can get way better food and service elsewhere.

My man and I sat at the oyster bar and had a great experience! We tried several types of oysters and fresh seafood. Love the atmosphere...its a bit more sexy than The Fish Market.

The crab cakes were good as expected. Grand Shellfish platter was fresh but not really enough for two (I guess it's never enough when it comes to seafood for me!) :) I had a whole lobster for main and it was as good as a cooked lobster you'd expect when you dip it in as much butter as you want. The meal was decent, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't exceptional for the price you pay. I'd go for the good ambience and it's definitely a dressy place for special occasions.
