Live music & fire pits make this a fun place to have a margarita & listen to live music under the stars. The mexican food is surprisingly good.

Funky setting at the River Pines Motel. Good food with Southwest-style food. Outdoor patio is great in summer but wasps can be a problem. Indoors is small dining. Funky bar with bar seating and bistro sit down.

They do have live music and the place is popular, but usually it's just a bunch of 55+ people

Live music! Dancing! Drinks and food! This is a great spot for people watching. Most of the folks here are baby boomers or older. I wish people my age danced. Still a welcoming atmosphere that I enjoy.

Great happy hour menu and drink specials. Also a cute patio and regular live music for entertainment. In the Carlsbad Village Faire, so awesome shopping options nearby too.

Coyote Bar and Grill is a nice place to enjoy friends, good food and beverages. I especially enjoy their fire pits that add ambiance and a bit of warmth to the cooler evening near the beach. There is usually live entertainment at night.

This place has been here your years. They open at 11 and have a lot of seating. My favorite is the large fire rings. Bring all your friends, or sit and meet other people. They have daily entertainment. A perfect location for a weekend brunch.

Coyote Bar & Grill is a good spot to grab drinks, meetup with friends or for a quick casual business meeting on the outdoor patio, and/or to get a little nightlife fix in the heart of Carlsbad Village on a week or weekend night when they offer Karaoke or DJ and dancing. I gave them three stars because they are a much needed dance spot in North County, and their drinks are okay. Their food is bar/pub style.. not for those looking for high quality fine dining. If you just want a few margaritas, some good music and people watching, or a night of dancing minus the production of planning a crazy downtown clubbing outing, then Coyote is for you! The crowd is a little older, the staff and people the visit are all friendly, and the prices are reasonable.

I'm not a huge fan of the food at Coyote. However, Carlsbad is a very sleepy town. This is one of the only places with live music regularly, dancing, karaoke, and awesome people watching. Drinks are expensive, so be prepared. I've never had an awful time there, but would choose to eat somewhere else.
Update: since carlsbad is such a quiet little town, there's not much to do during the week. I've been loving karaoke nights on Monday and Tuesday. Lots of older folks who don't give a da@$. So many smiles and good laughs!

Coyote bar and grill is more for the older crowd. It is host to karaoke most nights of the week. It has decent drink specials during happy hour and a nice outside seating area with fire pits. This bar is more geared towards the relaxed crowd and not the go out and drink and party crowd.

It's a good place to grab some food! On the weekends and evenings there's usually live music and it can be a lot of fun! The outdoor seating has big fire pits and being on the coast...you really should sit outside and enjoy!

The Coyote is one of the places to be, whether it is a weeknight or weekend, in downtown Carlsbad. Open-mike karaoke and cozy stone firepits keep patrons happy and singing outside on the patio, or you can choose to sit inside away from the noise. Happy Hour from 4-6 during the week is a FAB deal, but hit it up after 10pm for the same discounts (except appetizers). It's the perfect place for a group of friends.

If you are in Carlsbad, a sleepy little town known more for building blocks for 4 year olds than nightlife, this is the "spark after dark", "the late night place to be".

Coyote is in a 2 story wood framed open air mall in the Village of Carlsbad, downtown just passed the railroad tracks on Carlsbad Village Drive.

It has southwestern food, which here loosely means a mix of Tex-Mex and burgers, or Chili's with a Coyote theme. They have a cocktail area, a couple of large screens with sports, and a large outdoor patio seating area with gas fire pits for warming against the coastal fog that rolls in at night. The patio area is also the Karaoke area. with a spinmaster at controls and some pretty decent singers (probably regulars gearing up for American Idol number 37).

The customers are a mixture of shear-headed leathernecks looking for some fun other than in Oceanside, a few locals and tourists, and a batch of underaged suburban girls looking for some excitement in Carlsbad with drunk and hunky "the few and the proud".

If you go early for food, snacks or a drink, seems inocuous enough to relax. Later at night or the weekends, judging by the other suburbanite haters stuck looking for excitement in Carslbad, it is a scene you might want to avoid, since drunk Marines, underaged civilian girls, and surfer boyz mix into a potentially explosive cocktail, so they keep a tight lid on everyone.

Me, I just had a quick beer, some chips (the dip was supposed to be smokey Chipotle, but was bland with a lot of black specs). The service was fine, and the place was pretty calm.
