the San Diego coast as well as locally brewed lagers and ales on tap. Thomas Schoos' airy design of the 7,000 square foot downtown San Diego restaurant features an open kitchen and only furniture to divide the lounge from the restaurant area. You won’t find many walls or barriers here. Friends and family can chat with chefs and servers as easily as they can with each other. Searsucker isn't a place to get away; this is a place to get together.

A favorite spot in La Jolla if you want to impress guests. The decor is whimsical, the food- top notch. A little on the pricey side but hey it's La Jolla.

We make it a point to return to Searsucker every time we hit San Diego. Fantastic cocktails. Amazing steaks. Lively upscale scene with exceptional service.

The Gaslamp Quarter is a cultural wasteland but this watering hole has above average swagger. Great cocktails. A shame the kitchen closes so early.

Great cocktails and damn good happy hour food options. Bartenders are always pleasant and attentive. I recommend any of the mules and an awesome spiked Apple cider. Yum!

This is a wonderful restaurant for a foodie to try! Every dish is packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The cocktail list is fun to explore and their signature drinks are all tasty and you pay for the mixology. The menu does change so you won't get bored. Searsucker was (and probably still is) a very popular dining choice in the Gaslamp. The food speaks for itself and the service is fantastic. Best bet is to make reservations, or have a seat at the swanky bar while you wait. The decor is so inviting and upscale, but still very comfortable.

LUNCH review
Service: we came at lunch, right when it opened and were slightly surprised to discover you order at the hostess station and then sit down. This caused a bit of confusion as most people were completely unprepared to order and this ended up jamming up the line a bit. It seemed a bit cheap, as if they didn't want to hire enough service staff to run a proper lunch service. Considering the prices, I guess I just expected more actual care.

Food--the sandwiches we had were amazing! My dad had the chicken brie with tomatoes and greens on a ciabatta bun and I had the crab sandwich with avocado, bacon and crispy onions. Each sandwich came with a super fresh salad and my dad got an order of the brown butter fries which was perfect for the both of us.

Overall, it was a great experience in a central location with beautiful decor but disappointing that the beginning was so rushed and the personal care minimal.

A good concept located along 5th in the heart of the Gaslamp District. They recently opened one in Austin, Texas as well. The food is good and the drinks are great.

While having dinner with owner, Brian, the wine was great and one thing led to another and he ended up buying a horse by the end of dinner. The horse never has performed well in races but is a good pet for him. One thing we have learned from this place is to never buy horses after drinking from the wine list. And by the way, the food here is also fantastic, and is one of the best fusion cuisines I have ever tasted. My favorite dish is the scallops "east coast."

My friend was very fortunate to win a costume contest that was held by the restaurant during Comic Con 2012 and as the top prize, the restaurant offered a free lunch for her and 3 others. We were able to catch their Sunday brunch. I love breakfast and they has some savory brunch dishes. The service and food was great here. If I get the chance to return to San Diego, I would like to try their dinner menu. Highly recommended.

If you want a hip place to eat dinner, this is it! It's downtown in the Gaslamp and worth finding parking for. Enjoy!

There are lots of selections to cater to every taste. We stuck with the "smalls" (appetizers) on this visit. They all range in size, but a good selection will cover you for dinner. Their entrees are all a la carte so you have to order the sides separate.

Been in a few times. The fact that a newish bar even employs hottie chicks to pour drinks is enough to merit many a star. Why the trend for smelly, poorly kept lads I dunno...

Big fan of the Calamari. Had it twice in two days. Would've had it for my entree as well on the second day. Won't ever not order it when I'm there. Might even have to order it any time I step on 5th Ave. Probably will eat so much of it that I'll be able to Tweet about my upcoming visit and some nice bartender will know to place the order and pour my drink in preparation for my arrival. It's that good. Might have to mortgage the house though. It's that money.

The food here is delicious, if pricey. The steak was excellent, and the marrow was tasty. Drinks were good, and service was very friendly, prompt, and helpful. I've also been here just for drinks. The bar can get quite loud, which spills over into the dining area.

This restaurant not only has a unique menu, (order the "Bacon & Eggs" which is pork belly with quail egg) but the ambiance is so hip and vibrant.

Hipster cool restaurant in the heart of the Gaslamp. The space is huge, with a large bar and seating out front as well. I sat at the bar and enjoyed their incredible Triple C sandwich (crab cake, bacon, avocado, fried onion and tarragon aioli on butter brioche) with a side of champagne greens. UH-mazing.

If you're craving dessert, try the Sucker Bar which is their version of a Twix bar. Sinfully delicious.

The bar is impressive and the cocktails are fantastic as well!

Searsucker is exactly what you want - a hip, cool restaurant that doesn't reek of pretension. The food is innovative and delicious, and the atmosphere is young. I would definitely recommend calling ahead (by days, not hours) for a reservation to guarantee a table!
