Location is very good even if the surrounding area could use some cleaning up. The facilities and service in the hotel are first rate, my room very comfortable. Wifi is free but parking is $40 per night and a daily "room service charge" is in addition to the advertised rate.

Extraordinary brunch with bottomless drinks. We had tequila sunrises, an array of seafood and meats and cheeses and so much more. I would definitely bring friends and family back.

Need a good place for a spectacular Sunday brunch. This is the best every brunch located in downtown San Diego. Tons of fresh seafood and many other great dishes to try.

Stayed there when I got married the first time. Her uncle own the place. Great place in 72 and still is.

The Westgate is an amazing luxury hotel with great views, amenities, and a location to match with booking rates that aren't too much more than standard 4-star downtown hotels.

The lobby has the feel of a French chateau; crystal chandeliers, gold-leaf everything, and exquisite wood work. There are Napoleonic-style paintings of old white guys and their horses hanging next to a Gone With the Wind curving grand staircase. While it may sound over the top, the hotel successfully avoids Vegas-style faux opulence, and its charm harkens to the early days of The Grand Budapest (only the best fictional hotel).

The rooms are large, and continue the same theme as the lobby. Each has plush, high backed chairs pointed toward amazing views in the city. If you ever felt compelled to leave the hotel, because of the central location, you'll be in an excellent spot to walk all of downtown.

The Westgate is a one-of-a- kind hotel, completed in 1970. It is filled with priceless antiques and appointments one would find in an elegant home. Designed as a re-creation of an anteroom in the Palace of Versailles, the Grand Lobby is noted for its magnificent antiques, Baccarat crystal chandeliers, Flemish and French tapestries and Persian carpets. Offering the ease and pleasures of the world’s finest metropolitan hotels, and the best of Southern California! Minutes from the airport or the San Diego Convention Center, steps from the trolley/train station and readily accessible by freeway. Within walking distance is the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Opera and the Symphony, Horton Plaza shops and Gaslamp Quarter energy. Return to the quiet of your private room and relax in luxury, then consider a visit to Le Spa or the Fitness Center, a glass of wine in the intimate Plaza Bar, or an elegant dining experience graciously served in The Westgate Room. Check out their new 15,000sq. foot Roof Deck opening in late Spring 2013. The Olympic-sized swimming pool, Jacuzzi and fire pit-dotted lounge space, plus fitness and training stations with skyline views is a must see if you are among San Diego's rooftop pool scene lovers.

What's not to love about the Westgate? A luxury hotel in downtown San Diego located within walking distance of tons of restaurants, shopping, and much more. But the best part is their elegant teas and if you are in town at the right time, you can even participate in their Ladies Literary Teas, always featuring a fabulous author. Enjoy decadent tea sandwiches, scones, seasonal fruit and berries, desserts and lovely harp music and why not add the champagne as well!

Nice staff. Clean rooms. Not too modern but still very accommodating for basic needs.
