it’s in an area that’s feels almost like largely commercial. But what’s great is that you’re just a short walk to Old Town and all the cool history stuff they have there. The Whaley House is awesome! It’s also cool that you can borrow DVD’s and board from the hotel for those nights where you’re too tired to go out. Being on vacation can take a lot out of you. Plus there’s a free breakfast. Overall, it’s not a bad place considering how affordable it is to stay there.

Idyllwild

Cozy place to stay if you're in town area. Quite a few nice Mexican restaurants. Nice iLife at the different restaurant bars.

They have the most romantic suit for a couple get away. It is inexpensive and the best room you can find hardly any where.

Old Town in has an old school feel and is lucky enough to be right on Pacific Highway. It’s really close to the train station, the Old Town Transit Center (Amtrak comes in here, too) so transportation here is much easier. It’s a small hotel, but they have complimentary breakfast every day, not just on the weekends or weekdays, plus free parking in case you do bring your car. It’s perfect for a budgeter like me, because I know the really high end hotels in Downtown San Diego can charge over $20 for self-parking alone.

What an adorable, charming inn! I loved it from the moment I stepped inside the warmly lit, welcoming lobby. The inn maintains the character of Old Town while providing all the modern conveniences. The rooms are nicely decorated but a little cramped.

You can grab a bite to eat at the continental breakfast in the breakfast room, which includes a waffle station and all the other normal breakfast staples. They also include free internet and free parking! The pool area has some tables and lounge chairs along with a lot of vegetation to make for a relaxing afternoon outdoors.

The Old Town Transit station is just a short walk down the street, where you can hop on a trolley to go downtown. It's also close to the airport.

I'd definitely recommend the Old Town Inn!

The Old Town Inn immediately struck me as a cute and cozy little space amid a rough San Diego neighborhood. Yes, they are within comfortable walking distance from the trolley/bus station, and not much further to historic Old Town, but it is a walk I wouldn't recommend. While it's certainly not South Central LA, the neighborhood has a reputation for certain shenanigans. You'd be fine in a car, and there is ample free parking.

I was surprised how clean, homey, and well maintained the grounds are for a budget hotel. The staff are incredibly friendly, and even put up with me when I turned on the electric dinosaur that's in the lobby. The free breakfast actually seemed to be something most people would enjoy eating (waffles!). And if you are stuck in for the night, they offer complimentary DVD rentals, a heated, well maintained pool, and free Wi-Fi.
