A spectacle of nightlife, restaurants, vendors and classical sculptures and fountains, Piazza Navona is one of the best places in Rome to spend a little free time doing nothing. Relax by the fountain ... Read more
of Neptune and watch the people go by. You may not decide to eat the piazza-proper more than once, simply because the restaurants here are pricey (you pay extra for the location), but it's certainly an interesting thing to try once; you'll feel like a tourist and the food will be "okay", but you'll enjoy the sights and the sounds-- like a circus.

We stayed in an AirBnb right off the Piazza Navona and I would argue that it is the best place to stay in Rome! Countless fabulous restaurants, none very touristy (unless you’re on the actual Piazza Navona). It was a great base for us to explore the city by foot. The small streets tucked back in this area are beautiful and full of things to see. We will always stay in this area whenever we go to Rome!

This place is definitely underrated throughout Rome and one the best piazza's to visit. So much culture and local feel to it. I visit here every trip to Rome and it's such a different experience each time to see something new.

Piazza Navona is one of the most famous squares in Rome, built by the Pamphili family. Its shape is that of an ancient stadium: it was built in monumental style at the behest of Pope Innocent X. the evening is the best time to visit Piazza Navona. The atmosphere is full of colors and the piazza becomes a meeting place for tourists who, standing near the fountains or sitting at the table in one of the bars, sip a drink, letting themselves be captured by the magic of Street musicians and strett performers.During the Christmas period is the place of the most sought after markerts, where families come to buy items for cribs and children to have fun on the rides, waiting for Janury 6, the day on which the Piazza Befana is celebrated in piazza navona

This square, which displays the genius of Bernini and Borromini, is one of the finest Baroque Masterpiece in papal Rome. Lots of restaurants and boutiques - wonderful place to have a great meal or just a latte in the evening. 7 minutes by walk from apartment.

Gorgeous piazza. Less crowds at night, but lots of annoying street vendors. Reminded me of Venice.

Piazza Navona is a large, open piazza, well known for it's three fountains - the most famous being Bernini's Fountain of the Four Rivers. The Fountain of Neptune is also here, along with the Moor Fountain.

With its ornate fountains, baroque palazzi (mansions) and colourful cast of street artists, hawkers and tourists, Piazza Navona is central Rome’s elegant showcase square. Built over the 1st-century Stadio di Domiziano, it was paved over in the 15th century and for almost 300 years hosted the city's main market. Its grand centrepiece is Bernini’s Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, an ornate, showy fountain featuring personifications of the rivers Nile, Ganges, Danube and Plate.

Piazza Navona is one of the most famous and arguably the most beautiful of Rome's many squares. The large and lively square features no less than three magnificent fountains. Another eyecatcher is the Baroque church of Sant'Agnese in Agone.

My favorite plaza in Rome to sit and enjoy a cafe or a meal. Piazza Navona was highly significant because of its Baroque Roman architecture.

This one of Rome's most beautiful squares, and makes for a lovely stroll. There are street artists and you may be able to buy a decent watercolour as a souvenir. Just don't go to the cafes on the square. They're way overpriced.

With a fountain at either end and one in the middle this large public space was at one time used for a market. Today, it is a slightly less touristy area of Rome where the beauty of the piazza can be enjoyed in a more natural setting.

My tour guide told me they used to hold mock naval battles in this space, after filling it up with water. Sounds nuts. Now it's full of restaurants, fountains, and tourists. Worth a visit for the Neptune fountain alone though.

Artists and architects had fun with this square. At least one of the statues has a statue with it's arm raised up to protect itself from the building facing it. "Don't collapse on me".

very ancient and big square, where in ancient time they used to play some naval fight ( yes they fulfill with water!) now there is the bernini fountain about the four rivers, with the famous statue covering his eyes to do not see the chapel made from Borromini.

Take 5 minutes to admire the fountain of 4 rivers by Bernini and the church in front of it designed by his "competitor" Borromini,
