One of Rome's iconic monument. It's not on most tourists sites to visit but it's really a site to see. It's a historic place so try to visit the museum inside if time permits. There is a scheduled guided tour of the passageways inside.

This was my favourite tourist attraction in Rome. Very close to the Vatican with superb views of St. Peter's Basilica.

The entrance fee is €7 for EU citizens between 18-25 and €14 for everyone else.

There is a free audioguide provided in the form of an app with Bluetooth way points that activate when you walk into the correct room. It works exceptionally well.

There is a coffee shop with amazing views of St. Peter's Basilica and a rooftop terrace with a view over the entire city. I really recommend coming in the evening to see the city and monuments lit up.

An amazing castle with lots of history. The guide was downloading an app and listening an audio guide, so make sure to have headphones. Amazing sights of Rome and San Pietro Basilica. There is a Cafe in the middle of the tour and tables are put on places from which you can overlook Rome.

A highly underrated monument in Rome. Do the special tour of the hidden passageways if time allows! A fascinating look inside years and layers of Italian history. Not usually crowded.

Built by the Emperor Hadrian, who died before its completion, a fortress, a papal stronghold and now a repository for ancient weapons and some very fine art pieces, the Castel Sant'Angelo also offers panoramic views of Rome. A definite place to visit.

This Castle is one of the best well kept of the History of Rome. It was built as a tumb of Adrian the first , mole adrianorum. In the 403 the imperator Onorio included the monument inside the Aurelian walls of the city and the monument because a castle fro the defense of the city. In the VI centery became a prison. On 1367 the keys of the castly were givven to Pope Urbano V and the fate of the monument was link to the Vatican. Inside the monumet where the cells are still visitable during the night are often given theater performans.

Originally built as a mausoleum for Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century, it was late taken over by the Popes and used as a fortress and prison. It is now a museum. The views from up top are fantastic, giving you the opportunity for some very nice panoramic pictures.

Beautiful sight from the Tiber at night. Museum is closed on Mondays, as most are in Rome, but this Mausoleum for Hadrian, built around 130 AD, is a major landmark in Rome. Papal apartments, restaurant and views over the city are available for a modest entry fee.

This Castle was built in the early days of Rome by Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum for his family. Later it became a chapel and then a refuge for Popes trying to escape foreign forces.

The Mausoleum of Hadrian, usually known as Castel Sant'Angelo, is a towering cylindrical building in Parco Adriano, Rome, Italy. It was initially commissioned by the Roman Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum for himself and his family.

Come here for the view. You can climb to the top of this circular structure and get a fantastic view of the city. It's also fun to wander around the nooks and crannies of this ancient castle - they have done little to "fix it up" (at least it looks that way), which makes it all the more authentic.

Castel Sant'Angelo is located right next to the Vatican City. It's a castle and fortress, so when you walk around the dimly lit place, you get the sense what it was like to live in ancient era Rome.
