This is by far my favorite hostel in Rome, if not the world!
Owned by two Americans, it's a little zen piece of heaven right by Termini.

I had a great time at the Beehive. What I love most about their property is its tranquility. Despite being conveniently near Roma Termini, the hostel is like an oasis, complete with a little garden.

While I attended an event at The Beehive's main property, I actually stayed in an sister property, Clover. While it's located on the other side of Termini, it's fairly easy to reach (cut through the station for the most comfortable and quickest walk). The rooms were pristine, the bathrooms extremely comfortable (the nicest of any hostel I've been to

Fantastically well-run, with a little cafe, stylish rooms, a great location near Roma Termani, The Beehive is hard to match. Did I mention that for the price, you're not going to find this good of value?

The Beehive is run by an American couple who are just really good people. They have good politics and it comes through in every aspect of their business. I can not recommend the Beehive highly enough. The only problem is that it's always full! But the off-site options are great too.

I can not say enough good stuff about the Beehive. The place is great (including their annex locations -- I've seen two of them), the service is impeccable, and the price is right. But beyond all that, Linda and Steve run the place from their heart. It is eco, local, and just makes you feel good. I love the Beehive.

This eco-friendly budget hotel/hostel owned by two American expats features a homey atmosphere, organic cafe, 7 homey rooms, and a private garden. It's also just a flew blocks from Termini station.

Great location (right across the street of the train station), beautifully decorated room, comfortable courtyard; the Beehive has everything you can relax after a hectic day of sightseeing.

Organic hand-made soap was a very good touch.

Also don't forget to check out the cafe downstairs, they cook a fantastic meal. You can reserve a seat for their special sunday brunch as well.

A stylish hostel that is steps from Termini station, but feels like a little oasis of modern cool. A vegetarian cafe graces the basement and rooms range from larger dorms to privates. One of the best ever value for money hostels.

The Beehive is more than an economical, comfortable and convenient place to stay in central Rome, it'offers the traveler a bit of community and connection. Staff was warm and friendly, and genuine. But what I particularly valued was how easy it was to meet and chat with fellow travelers. I had a few breakfasts and dinners in the excellent attached vegan cafe, and met some extremely interesting people. An American who was a dedicated fan of Italian cinema, a wandering psychologist, and a family of cheery Dutch travelers. A big plus for me is that it's only 2 short blocks from the controlled chaos of Termini, offering public transport connections to all of Rome and beyond. And Termini is full of all sorts of shopping offering the traveler the opportunity to pickup whatever might be needed, from luggage to sunscreen.

I recently stayed a night in The Hive, which is the Beehive's dorm room. I arrived late at night, but even though this was only just before the reception was due to close at 11pm, Diana, on the front desk, was friendly and helpful, making sure that I had everything I needed before she left for the night. I rang her as I arrived at Termini to say that I was on my way, and was pleasantly surprised to find that, even lugging a capricious, heavy suitcase, I reached the Beehive in the promised five minutes.

The room itself is spacious, which is a refreshing change from some dorm rooms I've stayed in. The bunks are comfortable, and they aren't crammed too close together. No waking up in the morning breathing into somebody else's face here! The lockers are sturdy with plenty of space for valuables. At this point in time there isn't air conditioning in the room, although I believe it's planned for next year. However, as the windows open out onto the locked, walled garden, we felt safe leaving them open and this, in conjunction with the ceiling fan, meant that the room didn't get too hot.

Having messed up my onward travel plans (ahem) I had a full day to spend in Rome after my stay. The Beehive has a luggage storage room which is locked, and the key kept behind reception, so I felt very secure leaving my bag for the day and returning later. I was also able to get my travel tickets printed at reception, which was a lifesaver.

Finally, I have to mention the lounge room and garden. Both are peaceful and calm, and lovely places to sit and chill. The lounge room's walls are covered in photos of family and friends of the owners, which gives a really friendly feel. There are also travel guides and novels to read, as well as a computer which is free for all guests to use. The garden is *gorgeous*, with overhanging trees and plenty of sofas and tables to sit and chat to others, or just - as I did - to chill out late at night after a long day's travelling when you're not tired enough to go to bed yet.

Stayed in the Millefiori - three bedroom apartment near Termini station. It was a wonderful experience and we met several very nice people also staying there.

This is a bit of an odd one; there's no AC in the rooms and you share a toilet, yet, it's by far and away the nicest hotel experience we've had in a long time.

The rooms are clean and tidy and so are the bathrooms which never seemed to be totally busy as to make it tricky. All the staff were helpful and friendly in quite a genuine way which is disconcerting for a brit used to only the most superficial customer service.

The cafe is a brilliant place to get some breakfast and again the guy who cooks the breakfast is very friendly and cooks a mean scrambled eggs and toast. He deserves a special mention because he was there most days we were and was always excellent.

We lost our lonely planet guide which turned out to be a total blessing, because using the guide led us to many excellent places we'd have missed without it. I've never seen a hotel guide I'd read let alone trust enough to use on a daily basis but we did and we were never led astray.

Finally any place where staff can get locked in the toilet and still be friendly and helpful deserves five stars for that alone. We will be visiting again and recommend it to everyone!

The best hostel I've ever stayed in and I've stayed in quite a few. Clean, well located, great staff with an inexpensive delicious breakfast available. Just make sure you book early.

A quaint little place to stay-- not really a hostel, but not quite a hotel. They have nice private rooms as well as hostel-style shared rooms. They also have an annex a few blocks away that has apartment-style accommodations. Whatever you're looking for, Beehive is a charming and relatively cheap place to stay in Rome. It's nicer than a hostel, but with fewer amenities than a big hotel.

My favorite thing about this place is the organic cafe in the basement. I had avocado for the first time here (no, I'm not joking. I was age 21 and had never experienced the bliss that is avocado). They serve up soups and sandwiches for reasonable prices, hand-made to order by the resident chef.

The best hostel experience you're gonna get in Rome. This place is clean, run by an American couple with 3 cute kids. There is a vegetarian cafe' in the basement-a rarity in Rome. It used to be pay what you want, but that nice touch has been relegated to just the snacks. Still, worth staying here if you manage to find a vacancy. Ask about the apartments they also rent in other parts of the city if you don't fancy staying in a hostel.

Of all the train station-area hostels and hotels, this is by far the most welcoming. If you're interested in a great-priced hotel room and enjoy the camaraderie of a hostel, it's a good combination of both. If you're sick of pasta, eat organic yogurt and granola or other hippie fare at the organic cafe in the basement. Friendly American owners, an incredibly knowledgeable staff, and spotlessly clean rooms and bathrooms make this the most desirable low-cost option near Stazione Termini (Rome's train station).
