Rome. Just the name alone conjures up over 2500 years of Western history. A world capital throughout most of recorded history, Rome offers countless opportunities for modern-day visitors to walk back in time, or stay firmly in the present. Stand in awe at the nearly intact Colosseum, where Roman Emperors watched gladiators battle and hunters on the trail of crocodiles and leopards imported from Africa for the Colosseum's crowds of up to 50,000 Roman citizens. Modern restaurants and nightlife make Rome one of the most exciting cities in Italy. Expand your horizons to the surrounding countryside of Lazio for some treasures. Hit the beaches near Rome’s coastal port city of Civitavecchia or travel to the ancient port of Ostia Antica, where ... Read more
recent excavations have uncovered supremely preserved ruins rivaling those of Rome’s Forum. Feel like more of an Italian village ambiance? Tivoli features winding streets, quaint restaurants, and a beautiful river gorge cutting directly through the city overlooked by Roman temple ruins.

Whizzing over cobblestones on a motorino and al fresco dining, two of Rome's most iconic activities, are best performed from September to November and April to July. Temperatures really start to soar into the 100s (40°C) over July and August, and in August many stores and restaurants close for le ferie (holidays). Don't be discouraged by the idea of a winter trip, however...though it's cold, you'll have the city to yourself and the Christmas holidays really light up the city.

Visited the colloseum and the nearby places close to the Varican. Beautiful religious places and great Roman architecture.

The Eternal City, the City on Seven Hills. You could argue no European itinerary is complete without the capital of the Roman Empire. Art and history are seemingly everywhere, and it's very walkable. Highlights include the Roman Forum, the Flavian Amphitheatre, and the Pantheon.

I moved to Rome 13 years ago on my own not knowing anyone. I was just enthralled by its history and in love with its atmosphere. As soon as I moved here I immediately felt at home.
Rome is spectacular, it's romance at its best, it's art and history, it's big and imposing and glamourous, but most of all it's magic. It was the magic that drew me in and even now after all these years that magic has not faded in any way.
It's the eternal city and this for me means it never loses its charm or ability to appeal, its beauty never fades but remains strong.
Visit Rome by all means but it'll take more than one visit to see even a small part of what it has to offer.

I absolutely loved Rome. The food and quality of life are difficult to compete with. I can't wait to go back. It doesn't hurt that they had a legalize marijuana parade the day we got there.

Enjoy wandering around the Centro Storico, check out the Colosseum and eat as much pasta, pizza and gelato as you can muster.

If you're in Rome, you must rise a Vespa. There's no way you're in their gorgeous city and not take a ride on this. Just be careful and wear a helmet (or so they say) also do the Segway tour around the city. So much fun!

Rome itself is an absolutely wonderful city, filled with great restaurants, amazing museums, spectacular churches, and delightful parks. However, if you have time, there are many great day trips that are also worth doing such as visiting Bracciano

What can I really say about Rome? Well, you can travel all around the world and visit all the countries and cities, but you'll never find another place like Rome!

Rome is an ancient city and indeed it is very attractive to tourists who visited at first time. It looks quite old and the weather is hot too compared to Milan and Florence. Anyway, we liked to see the historical place and really amazing.
